Default Does RCCL charge for infants?

I was playing with the reservations on the website for my next cruise. We are expecting a baby around Christmas, and want to go on another cruise next August. It seems that they want to charge for the baby. Are they serious? Why would a baby under a certain age not be free? What the heck is a baby going to eat? At under 1, nothing! Gimme a break! We were going to put the baby in a portable cot on the floor under the fold down bed that my son sleeps in. Plenty of room, even in these tiny cabins. My family really struggles to afford vacations and I am afraid that paying for four will really make it cost prohibitive. Did I do something wrong?

Yep if you have a pulse and you are breathing they will charge you regardless of age.

Not only babies but also some older folks don't eat much either so they can't go by how much someone eats. What about the cruisers eating 7 meals a day should they be charged double?

I would think the reason would be they would rather have older kids and adults in the Triple and Quad cabins because at least they will be spending money on the ship as for a baby will do no spending.

I remember Under 2 was free a long time ago. They have been charging for awhile now.

I wonder if other cruiselines are charging for the Under 2 cruisers?

You might want to look into Costa they have the kids sail free program.

Also keep looking around something might pop up. Mariner had $200. 3rd and 4th rates. My neighbor just booked the Radiance for next Thanksgiving with real good 3rd and 4th rates.

Good luck!

Thanks, this is VERY disappointing. I think we will skip cruising next year because of this, there's just no point, one of us will have to be caring for the child at all times. I see your point, but we're more profitable than that young couple with no kids. One or two should be free, they are discouraging us from coming onboard with this policy, maybe that's on purpose. I'm just not going to pay for an infant that uses a little water. I guess they'll hold a chair at the MDR for the little tike as well? They should if I pay for a ticket.

RCL, Celberity, Carnival, Princess always charge for everyone. Once in awhile MSC and Costa run a special for children. As for the others, nope you pay. Also the baby must be 6 months to sail. Relatively new rule.

They are based on "head in the bed" for capacity. Oh, one other thing you are expected to tip the same for an infant as anyone else.
