Default Oasis...........Wazzup?

Alright, admittedly I've spent most of the day thinking about all things Oasis. so with that in mind, heres another question. Anyone have any idea what Oasis will be doing up until her arrival in Ft. Lauderdale? I have read she'll be leaving the shipyard on or about October 5. So, that leaves almost 2 months of mystery time. I'd guess maybe they'll have her somewhere for final fitting out for at least part of that time. But I was wondering if they were going to have any other things for her to do such as publicity stops, TV, etc. Just curious.

You are right, and they haven't announced it yet. The crossing will take 10 days at least, but the first revenue cruise is not until December 1, so there should be a lot of press and travel agent cruises.

would not be surprised to see one if not more of the major talk show celebrities doing a broadcast from the OAS

also Dave The Wave has arranged for it to stop at his place for PR pictures with the Minnow of the Seas

I read somewhere that all the plants in central park are being grown in the US and will be installed after she gets to the US, that will take awhile. Plus as the most innovative ship I'm sure RCL will want to show her off to all the media. We will see alot of her on news and travel shows, I remember the media frenzy when Freedom OTS came out and would bet it will be even more so with Oasis.

I could drive to the Big Apple to see the Oasis, but then I would be sad that I was not going to be able to board her. I will be patient and wait untill my april cruise.

DTW when the Oasis shows up to be photographed
with the Minnow, let us know and we'll cross the
bay to see the spectacle.

In Adam Goldsteins talk the other day, I thought I heard him saying that they, RC, will take possesion of the ship 10/28/2009 and that she is 95% complete. No trees or shrubs in Central Park as of yet but I'm sure RC will get every last detail done. Especially the "floating bar" which goes from deck 5 up to deck 8. Trust me, you will be seeing me there! Grey Goose Martini anyone?

I believe Oasis leaves Turku Oct. 28th. That means she won't be to Port Everglades until Nov. 9th the earliest. I don't think she has any scheduled stops either. If she doesn't have any scheduled stops, she will probably take a southerly route to get to FLL in the fastest time. Does anyone have shipping lane maps? It would be interesting to try to figure out or chart her course.

After Speaking to the Staff on The Liberty and The Monarch recently, The Oasis most likely will not be making it to New York. The Oasis is 18 decks tall and won't clear the Verrazano Bridge. I hear that their take out will take place locally in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. Plus the cold weather in december will not be good for all the plants in central park.

Above post makes a lot of sense.

I agree that New Youk in November would not be too feasible with the plant life on board. But, the bridge will not be a problem. I read that the pipes of the exhaust stacks are made to retract so the ship can get get under bridges, and it specifically mentioned the Verrazano. There's also a video of the stacks retracting but I cannot remember where I saw it.

I find humor in that statement....after all - the REAL Central Park has plenty of cold NY weather!
Don't jump all over me....I really do get what you are saying - it just sounded like some sort of oxymoron to me!

So this will be more like a tropical park.

I can't wait to see it.

Yeah, it does sound somewhat odd. I guess it could give the ship that fall look, trees with no leaves, brown grass....wait, that sounds like my yard.

and a revenue generator ..you swipe your sign and sail card for entrance..diamond plus members like yourself get extra ammenities (like 6 ply tissue, fragrance hand soap and extra fluffy towels and access to a private exit door so you don't have to go out the way you came in) :

if there are long lines RCI can designate (by color code) port-a-potties based upon your loyalty level :

on a serious note, I am sure the planners for Oasis, have anticipated these types of needs based upon the venue event
