Default How much time to allow to get from Port Canaveral to airport

I need to book our flights home for our January Cruise. We are coming in 2 days ahead of the cruise so that can be flexible. We are planning on taking the Cocoa Beach Shuttle from Port Canaveral to the Orlando Airport. The ship docks at 7:00 am and I am wondering what would be the earliest flight you would book and not be pushing it.

What has worked for others?? Staying an extra day is not an option.

Thanks tons,

Linda A

After getting off the ship ( could take approx 1 -2 hrs) plan at least 1 hr of
driving to the airport . If you have to get a rental car add an hour to get the car. this depends a lot on the number of ships in port.
The hour to the airport could be longer if there is an trouble on the highway.

I've cruised from Port Canaveral a few times and if you book anything before 10:30, you're gonna be cutting it very close because that means that you'll have to be the first off the ship, get your shuttle or car service with no delays, and get to the airport and checked in all within 3.5 hrs

Most likely you'll dock at 7 but that doesn't mean that passengers start getting dumped off the ship at 7. Most likely if customs clears quickly, people we start leaving the ship around 7:30.

If you're being precautious at the beginning of your trip, you should also be precautious at the end. I would try to book a flight that departs between noon and 2pm.

The Orlando airport isn't a bad place to be once you've checked your lugguage.

Thanks so much for your input. This will really help when I am looking at the flight time options. I definitely want enough time. When you fly out of Ft. Lauderdale or Miami on the weekend it seems the early the flight the better deal you get.

Thanks tons

We have left out of Orlando twice, Miami once, Newark once and LA once. No matter how close (or far) the airport is I have always heard not to book any flights home before noon. This allows for any delays at the port and because going through customs can take a few minutes or an hour or more. I would rather be at the airport a few hours early than rushing at the last minute to catch a flight. We also like to linger on the ship awhile before leaving and don't want to rush through the last day of our vacation.

when we went from Pt. Canaveral we used the RC shuttle and were to the airport by about 10:30. It is about an hour ride or so. Hope this helps.
