Default Excursion advice needed.

Sailing out of New Jersey on January 14th and going to the following ports:

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
St. Johns Antigua
Roseau Dominica
Tortola BVI

Has anyone been to these places and if so would you have any suggestions for excursions?

I was in St. Thomas once and did the BOSS underwater scooter as well as the sky ride to paradise point. The other three places I have never been.

Last 2 times we were in St Thomas we did the Sunny Liston tour which included a 2 hour stop at the beach of your choice. Mountaintop has burned down so I don't know if he replaced that with a stop somewhere else.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas~An island tour or a day at the beach snorkling is wonderful..check out Megans Bay, or take the ferry to St John, fabulous beaches over there! Great shopping too, downtown ST. T

Roseau Dominica~ Mostly eso tourist related tours here..no shopping to speak of.

Tortola BVI ~ A small island, we did an island tour and they bring you up to a gift shop at the top of the island ...bring change for the rest rooms..they did charge the last time I was there. We also made a stop at a beach for a short time.....also, no real shopping to speak of..also if you ars so inclined..the famous Tortola drink, the Painkiller, will make you smile

Royal Caribbean has now changed the itinerary. Instead of Tortola, it is now Old San Juan. The walking tour I took was a little boring. I remember seeing something about a zip line tour, has anyone done this.

For a few weeks now, excursion info has been unavailable on Royal Caribbean's web site for San Juan for some reason.

I wish they would have stayed with Tortola as I have never been there.

Has anyone ever had an itinerary change on their cruise and do you know what the reason for this might be?

Yes - we had our itinerary changed at the last minute once. We never did get an explanation and we were a little bummed also because they took away the one port we really wanted to go to. We still had a good time. The upside was - it made a good "excuse" to book the next cruise with that port in it!!

I looked into that Zipline in San Juan and it looks awesome and got great reviews too. I tried to book it 30 days prior to sailing and it was soldout.
Also the St. Maartan zipline was soldout. The lady at the excursion desk on the Explorer told me ziplines sell out quick.

Just keep it in mind if you want to zip to book early.

Apparantly Tortola no longer wants cruise ship passengers. It is a political issue as there is the feeling that having ships in overwhelms the island infrastructure for very little monetary benefit. It is a great little island and we enjoyed it when we stopped there on the Crown Princess. I am guessing that part of the issue is the trend toward huge cruisehips.

Can you provide a link to any news item about that decision? First I have heard of it. Thanks
