What a wonderful day it is for Royal after years of planning and construction to have taken possesion of this incredible ship. Just wish I lived close to Florida it would be incredible to watch this magnificient ship pull into port the first time. Guess I will just have to stay tuned and see this ship during the media frenzy that is scheduled to take place during the next month.

About a month to go........time is starting to crawl. But one slight correction. She did not leave Finland today. RCI took official delivery today but she will be leaving on Friday. I hear she 'may' be making a quick stop in England but nothing confirmed yet. I'm already packing.

I understand there is storm in the north sea she is going to either go through or try to outrun. It will certainly show what she's made of if she ends up in that.

Here are 2 clips of Oasis passing under the Storebaelt Bridge in Denmark Saturday night. This was a big test because she is so tall, getting under the bridge required a lot of planning. They had to go at low tide, stacks removed, and at full speed (causes a hydrodynamic effect called squat) to clear the span. And, I read an article that said they still would have only 2 feet of clearance. Don't know if that was true but if you watch the clips, it looks VERY close. They are also very nice full views of her at night. I had another one with some great whole ship video of the night view but lost the link. i'll post it later if I relocate it.

I've checked her out thoroughly on the Internet, and I'd like to sail on her just once for the experience -- BUT, any similarity between this and a ship is purely coincidental. We keep straying further and further from the experience of sailing the seas to discover new lands, and gravitating more and more toward floating amusement parks. Oh well, she'll never got out of the Caribbean anyway. She'll attract an entirely different cruiser from those who are seeking salt air, teak decks, out of the way ports and the true experience of an ocean cruise. Nevertheless, the amphitheater seem to be a stunning achievement, and she might be fun as a 'one timer.'
