plus mom and i need a break...she's been in and out of the hospital all summer...we need us a vacation........................

BTW...I'M oops, I'm liking the new look here at CM!!!

Hey meg - you have a fantastic time. I understand the rest your mom needs and deserves.

My DH was back to hospital this week. We had a bit of a scare that actually turned out to be hearburn - not another heart attack.

I have 2 weeks off over the holiday season and if I could find something reasonable we would be off for a week's cruise too even though we're going in January.

As for the kid and his bear - he's well, what can I say - a company that uses a child like that doesn't earn my respect.

I am very curious about the Oasis. I had booked the December 1 cruise and then changed to a cruise on the Navigator. I am one cruise credit away from Diamond Plus.

Last week we call to book the Make a Wish, $1500 for one night, we would have been willing to pay this for one cruise credit. The answer was NO cruise credit.
Now they the price is $500 and with a deep discount on the December 1st cruise. We can't rearrange our work schedule not to mention that the air fare would be prohibitive.

Now I see a child promoting the cruise, he is being given a free cruise and access that I a fare paying customer. Shameless, RCCL should be ashamed and his parents are breaking the law taking him out of school.

Thanks Paul for your blogging, talking to my husband he doesn't feel paying a premium to go on this ship and being nickeled and dimed for cup cakes. Also one of the joys of cruising for us is not having to worry about booking reservations ( that is work for us) it seems you must plan your time on the Oasis.

Once again RCCL has miscalculated and alienate some of the best customers.

Felix glad to hear about your husband and Meg enjoy your cruise.

Next week we have opted for a land vacation to Iceland for Thanksgiving.

felix..thanks

ok, tell me how nuts we are...we just booked the 11/29 on Ex so we're doing a b2b!

we got a JS guarantee...so frankly we don't care where we end up....pretty good dealio too....the resident discount was 400 bucks PP less, then i got a $300 diamond discount...so we saved $1100! wow!

fingers crossed...and i bought GOOD insurance for the long trip, and RCCLs thing for the 8 nighter that is basically a cruise to the bahamas and Fla....

woo hoo

Iceland - what a place to pick for a vacation!! I've only seen bits of documentaries on it but it does look beautiful.

I don't know what RCL is thinking - I'm not sure they know. I've read several things about the ship - some I think are OK some are just the same old same old except bigger and some things I downright don't like the sound of.

I guess the kid is head of the house to be able to leave school like that. I understand in the US it is an big deal to be taken out of school during regular classes. What I don't know, other than tomorrow and Friday is there more time off for the kids?

Told ya' the RCs are well and alive. .

In today's world most parents obviously don't care if the kids are in school or not. What for? With our watered down sorry excuse of an education system where half the high school graduates can't properly read or write?

I am more disturbed by the fact that adults actually play with a child in an internet forum and via e-mail and carry around some stupid fluffy bear.

well...long story short, we had to cancel last weekes cruise...mom took a small spill getting into the replacement car service vehicle and wound up in the ER...

Long story............the cool Wheelchair accessible vehicle basically broke down and the guy told me this when he arrived 30 minutes later, after he rode pat my house 1 hour prior??? and he couldn't have called me>???? idiot! so..the replacement that i scrambled to find was an SUV...she tried, but no way....

all is well, thank goodness for cruise care!

BUT alas, we are fine, and doing a B2B again starting THIS sunday...

fingers crossed please!!

and the kid and the bear are a little nauseating!

hope everyone had a nice turkey!

on the bright side, seems that ms. upgrade fairy sprinkled good karma my way..booked JS gtys for both legs...got the RFS for the 12 night, and a GS for the 9!!! I THINK we can "rough it"

HAHAHA! guess it was a b-day present for me too!

Seems like traveling was taken out of our hands this week, hope your Mom is feeling better, my daughter is almost back to her old self. Glad to see you rescheduled. We rescheduled our Iceland trip- minus our daughter ( in Medical School). I agree good thing for travel insurance although I sweated it out because I couldn't remember if I bought it or not.

See miss the trip and the upgrade fairy visits....hope I get that lucky.

thanks gang!!! get us ON the ship and we are good to go!!!

i think we might try eating in our cabin sometimes since we get to order off the entire menu....that way it will be easier on us! especially when it's warm!!!

i never really expected to be in an actual suite...so i think i'd like to avail myself of some of the new things! i will skip the reserved seating, but the ability to dine in our room makes mom happy!

As to the RCs over there...it's nauseating..again! blech!

and as to Behemoth OTS, well....i think it would be neato to see it in port...i am a TINY bit intrigued by some of the stuff...but i still think it's too big, especially for a certain blue bear!

Have a wonderful cruise Meg, it is lots of fun to order room service with the full menu and the large bathroom is also great.

Wishing you a smooth sailing.

Oasis, I am curious but don't know if the price is worth it. I will be interested in seeing what fare paying cruisers post.

Anyway, I posted on the other site that new FTC rules went into effect Dec 1,the post actually stayed on the site for 3 minutes before POOF !!!. They seem to be awfully sensitive as of late.

Are you referring to the rules that would effect the RC? Didn't you know they were disbanded.

Disbanded! yes I knew that.
Although I'm far from being an expert in the field the way I intrepret it if you receive compensation for an endorsement you must disclose it.I would also assume that the "free" Oasis inaugural cruises would be considered compensation. So if true wouldn't any person on said cruise be required to add a disclaimer to their post?

It isn't required by law. I'm Canadian so our laws are different but I believe anyone who recieves something that is for free for advertising their product must now declare it for tax purposes. I don't know if they must put a disclaimer in the ad - no matter what kind of ad it is.

That's a hard one - there are any number of people who were invited guests - in the 1,000's. For a lot it was a reward so to speak, for many different reasons - some for having numerous sailings, a lot of TA's (although TA's have no problem saying they had the freebee). As the freebees were complete before Dec. 1 and that particular program has been disbanded I don't think they have to say anything about this particular reward.

But I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will say something different.

For starters "I've had nothing but good experiences with Royal",my gripe is with "you know who's site".
The mods/management allow the cheerleaders to slam anyone who criticizes and "poof" anyone who disagrees.
Pick any critical thread and 90% of the cheerleader responses that follow will read "I'm sorry you had a bad cruise but it's never happened to me,you must surely be mistaken"(or words to that effect). If the OP doesn't back down they then procede to unite with postings containing nothing but contempt for the OP. Sure gets old after awhile!!!!

Anyway here's the link to the new FTC reg's
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Endorsement Rules for Bloggers

Well the day has finally arrived for affiliates and bloggers. Last October the FTC announced that bloggers (affiliates) who offer endorsements must disclose any payments they have received from the subjects of their reviews or face penalties of up to $11,000 per violation….or just a stern warning letter.
This didn’t bode well with many bloggers but judging from the enormous amount of feedback the FTC has been pumping onto the Internet the past few months, it seems fairly clear they’re not on a proverbial witch hunt for bloggers. After all, with millions upon millions of blogs online they couldn’t possibly enforce the rule across the web.
The new FTC rule is solely meant to help consumers make a more educated decision on what products or services they purchase from corporate sponsored bloggers, celebrities and social media venues. I agree.
This is not a big deal. If you’re a responsible blogger or affiliate this mandatory disclosure statement should be completely transparent to you. In my opinion adding a disclosure statement to each paid post or even a page on your blog explaining sponsored posts or paid endorsements, only solidifies your credibility to your subscribers or site visitors.
However, before you even count the money on the table to write a review or endorsement, it’s your responsibility as an affiliate or blogger to get your facts straight first. Start pumping out misinformed or incorrect information and you’ll tarnish your credibility faster than “The Mike O’malley Show” got canceled on NBC!
*For a full explanation of the new disclosure ruling please visit:

John Heald mentioned the rcs in his blog last friday and I've been checking the dark side for any hint of it but nothing. Not even on the carnival board.
He talked about the rcs flooding the dark side carnival board with false stories of charging for iced tea and no more ship on a stick.

I have never read his blog before now. He is absolutely funny. I love what he has to say - (besides the fact it is probably true).

I have noticed some threads over"there"asking about charges on Carnival for things like ice tea and extra fees at the lido buffet. Also asking if the ship on a stick has been discontinued. It could be jealous people because RCI is nickel and diming their passengers to death.

It's just a plastic trinket that they give to game winners.

oh the equvilent of the key chain.

Well, I find it amazing that Heald had to mention bot the RC's and CC in a rather unflattering way. I guess it only shows how true all the accusations and remarks have been.

I also noticed how slow it's gotten at cc for the last while. Is everyone still on the Oasis having free cruises or waiting to find someone to pounce on again. Or better yet, waiting for the offer of another free ( no matter how short) free cruise.

We are now three weeks off from our next cruise....

Anyone done Panama and can make some suggestions? Otherwise we are just going to wing it.

PITA about the holidays interfering. I have to go to the bank before the holidays because they won't be open until after we have left on vacation already. Stopping in Las Vegas for two days on the way to LA.
