Default Mariner, W. coast question

if i was to book a cruise this july on Mariner, would it be better to fly into LAX or Longbeach? prices are a little different but lax looked alot farther away from the port. also, any moderatly priced hotels not far from the port with cont. breakfast included?

thank you!

Long beach would be much closer for you. The cruise ship is physically in San Pedro, CA; which is a 15 minute drive from Long Beach. From the Ship to LAX is about a 50 minute cab ride. As for hotels, there are very nice properties in long beach; I always stay at the Westin; however, it might be a bit more pricy than what you're looking for. I would recommend flying into the airport that will give you the best price and flight times; the distance isn't all that much from LAX to San Pedro.

Great ship - sailed on her twice, with the last sailing being that exact cruise last April - enjoyed it very much.

We leave on the Mariner at the end of the month. We are flying into LAX so I will let you know how the commute is when we get back.

thanks addicted2, that would be wonderful! we're trying to decide on Mariner out of LA or Freedom out of port canaveral. both will end up being about $1500 including airfare, so it's really a matter of the ports we would like to visit.

I have clients booked on the Freedom that are driving time to the Mariner. They chose to fly to Orlando (we don't make a dime off of the air so we don't have a dog in the fight). IMHO the diverse ports of call on the Western Carib are a much better vacation for active cruisers. Just my 2 pennies, Robbie

We just booked tickets to Long Beach, it was a bit cheaper to fly into LAX, but factor in the cost of a taxi and the cost for each piece of luggage, Long Beach one.

We are back from the Mariner and had an absolutely wonderful time. As promised here is the info from LAX. The taxi ride was only about 15-20 minutes at a cost of $60.00 each way. We didn't have any problems with the taxi or in checking in at the pier. If you have more questions let me know and I will do what I can to help. You will have a great cruise. We have already booked it again for next Feb.

Sounds like a cruise that I would love to do.
