Default buying liquor at a port

We bought liquor in St. Maarten on our Freedom Cruise. We then brought it on board handed it over to the ship and recieved a receipt. Has anyone done this? If so, how did you get your liquor back???

Thanks,

Linda A.

It was delivered to the cabin the last night of the cruise.

NO, that did not happen to us. Unfortunately we had two cabins and each cabin thought it was delivered to the other. We left the ship to race to our flight and only looked for it when we got home. It was a gift to the person who was digging our home out of snow while we were gone. I talked to Customer Relations and they said only what was purchased on board was delivered to your stateroom. You were responsible for getting what you purchased at a port from your room steward or guest relations.

Oh well, lesson learned.

I have had this happen on a previous Royal Caribbean cruise. We had to go down to a specific location and get our liquor. It was somewhat of a hassle but the process for retrieving the liquor was well documented in the daily newsletter and in the debarkation talk.

I didn't attend the talk but watched it on TV. I hate going to those things because you get the standard: "The guy who left the ship in a robe because, the night before, he put all of his clothes out" and "You can leave when your cabin color is called." Stuff that is the norm. The problem is that once in a while they throw something new into the mix.

Take care,
Mike

It has always been delivered to my cabin whenever I purchased alcohol in town. Could be some cruise lines have changed their policy. I'll find out how RCCL does it in October.

We just got off of Radiance of the Seas and even the liquor we bought ON board was not delivered to our cabin. Like Mike M we had to go to a special area and pick up our purchases.

It was stressed to us that it was our responsibility to remember to pick it up, and they needed to stress it because this is totally different than what we were used to. Before all liquor purchases were brought to your cabin. Now we were told this service is offered only to those in Owners suites. Well...that isn't happening anytime soon....

Anyway, our understanding is the policy would be the same for liquor bought on shore.

BTW: Radiance was really strict about ANY liquor being brought on board. When we first arrived in San Diego, CA there was a 'line' of passengers having their one or two bottles of 'wine' or? taken to that special place for them to pick up AFTER the cruise.
