anyone know how the zipline is in ocho rios jamaica we r going in june 2010?

thecruisequeen January 31st, 2010 11:32 PM

As far as I know there are two zips in Ocho Rios. The one at Mystic Mountain and Chukka Canopy tour.

Chukka reviews are excellent and everyone seems to love it. Mystic Mountain also had good reviews.

We are going to do Mystic Mountain bobsled and zip. Did the bobsled last year but not the zip.

I hear that to get to Chukka zip it is a bus ride up a very narrow road with no side rails. Also the begining of the zip is a 15 minute walk which is pretty muddy so expect to get your shoes and legs alittle muddy.

I'll do any zipline but I'm not riding up a mountain on a narrow road with no side rails.... LOL

Both Mystic and Chukka have websites you can look into.

Enjoy whichever you choose!! 8)

Well I did not book either zip yet so I can still make up my mind and do Chukka instead I can always keep my eyes closed during the bus ride up.:pLOL

We did the St. Maartan zip however it is not much zipping involved.

Just received Docs today so I better get moving and book excursions and a precruise hotel. :D:)8)

Ok I'll see if I can spot Raymond in the casino. An excellent bartender on a cruise is always a plus. :p:cool::D

Doing West on Liberty - GC, Ocho Rios, Labadee and Coz. :D

We are cruising on June 20th too :) but not a Royal ship. :-|

Paul Motter February 24th, 2010 04:13 PM

I have done the Chukka Canopy zip line - it was fun. Not as dramatic as Labadee which is much higher, faster and longer, but it is a fun thing to do. It was about 6 shorter segments - each of them fairly short except one longer one over a river.

After three zip lines, I kind of feel I am over it. The one at Labadee is the most exciting, I must say.

spivey643 February 25th, 2010 07:16 PM

i did the big one in haiti already and yea on the ketchikan it was great very high and long had alot of fun ! so is it worth the money ? paul

Paul Motter February 26th, 2010 11:59 AM

The zip line in Jamaica is not nearly the thrill of the one in Labadee. it is a fun way to spend a day, however. The people are nice, the environment is nice.

We did horseback riding in Jamaice where they actually swim (on horseback) in the ocean. That is a very cool experience for Jamaica.

Stay away from cities and touristy places in Jamaica.

Donna March 25th, 2010 04:41 AM

I did one in Jamaica years ago, it was great. It was a long ride from the port, but a great excursion.

No I did not see a bartender named Raymond at the casino bar. I did look at bartenders name tag at the casino bar but there was no Raymond there. The bartenders rotate bars every few weeks so they are always in different locations. Not to mention he could have been on vacation or transfered to another ship.

Enjoy my Liberty she is an awesome ship! You will have a wonderful cruise. :):D8-)

Paul Motter April 27th, 2010 11:11 AM

I saw Raymond working in the Chili's I went to last night. I think I saw two of them. :p
