Default Oasis OTS is Wonderful

Just got off the Oasis on Saturday. This ship is everything that it was said to be. Big, beautiful, fun, exciting and much more. Before I sailed I read the reviews from those who had sailed already. Those reviews were right on target. What a ship!! You really have to experience it to understand the reviews. Being a new ship there were of course a few things that had to be ironed out but nothing major. I did not expect 100% perfection but I will give it a solid 96%.

For those of us who love the big ships, this one is a must. It has everything. I give it 5 thumbs up!!!

Seadog glad you enjoyed Lady O. She is something else!!

Reading the best most positive review doesn't give her justice!!

How was the weather? What did you think of the Zip, Comedy Club and shows?

CQ it was your review that generated my anticipation. I was already excited about going but reading your review put me over the top. The weather was very nice 80 degrees the whole time. It rained when we were in St. Maarten but only for about 30 minutes.

I did all of the shows. Hair spray was a bit long but otherwise ok. There were two comeidiens at the comedy show both were very funny. It was nice clean comedy and very funny. The Headliner show was ok too. By far the most enjoyable show was the Aqua show. The part where they were on the trampolene was very cool.

I did the zipline and it was fun. By the time I got my butt in the sling and stepped off the edge the ride was over. I went to sign up to do it again but they were booked solid for the rest of the cruise.

By the way, the kids had a hard time getting me off of the carousel. I love merry-go-rounds. I rode the zebra and the Ostrich. No doubt, Lady O is something else.

We are drunk with anticipation !!!!!!
We saddened with the way the prices for our sailing
have gone, none of our friends can afford to join us.
Looks like our Sept. 11, 2010 cruise is sold out?
The RCI website has N/A next to every category except deluxe suites.
And the following Eastern Carib sailing on Sept. 25, 2010
has Interior rooms priced at $1999. That's CRAZY !!!!!!
We booked interior last year for $850

Manuel and Mike-Suz. You'll be cruising the Oasis before you know it. The time will pass quickly, it just seems like a long time getting here. She is worth the wait. Enjoy.

I don't mind the waiting, because we have a couple of trips in between.

I also returned from the Oasis last week. Amazing ship, we had a blast and I would say it was run to perfection. I found nothing that was not run smoothly. For those that have not gone yet, make sure you book all your shows etc. online and have everything planned out. If you do, you will not be disappointed and won't miss anything

I am really glad you like Oasis - I knew it would be a hit. There were a lot of detractors before she sailed.

I AM curious about your Aqua Show experience. Did they do the show "Slip 'n Splash" (or some name like that - sorry). Or did they just do the one show Oasis of Dreams?

I agree about Hairspray - it is a bit long. Funny, because they have to pay big money for the rights to do the show, and it runs about 1:15. The average cruise show is 50 minutes.

But it is still very good - I wouldn't miss it just because it is long. The Ice Shows are great, too.

But the ship itself is the main thing. It is just a beautifully designed ship. I hope you all send us your cruise reviews.

Cruise reviews by cruisers like you.

Like other people right now, our weather pattern has us dreaming of the day we step foot on the Lady O!

We are doing a B2B, starting on Apr 10, with our DS, DIL, and 5 year old granddaughter. The 2nd week we will have to wave good-bye to them and sit back and enjoy the ship at our pace!

I checked today, and our D1 Balcony, for the Apr 17 sailing, is still available -- for $1,000 more than we paid! Yeow!

I can't wait to experience the ship for myself!

Well - not exactly, both ships alternate between two different itineraries, Eastern and Western caribbean, each going a different direction each week.

It is the same two itineraries for both ships, but they do it like that for two reasons:

1. if you want the eastern or western caribbean you can go any week you want, you just pick one ship or the other (they will be nearly identical).

2. If you want to stay on either ship for two weeks you do not repeat the same itinerary, you get a 14-day cruise with all different ports.

See - there is some logic to what they do - they didn't just start doing this yesterday

Agreed with point one.. you can choose any week for either East or West.
But any b2b on either ship will take you to all the same destinations.
(Assuming the eastern itinerary also duplicates the Oasis)
Sorry but it just seems ridiculous.
Especially since they're both out of the same port.

So let me see if i get this right. Unlike some of the ship's that will go west one week then east the next week, so will they still rotate or not? Or if the oasis is eastern this week the the allure is western then next week they switch or would they stay the same? Just wondering since i guess it did not make 100% sense to me. Thanks

So when does the allure start sailing. Does anyone think its worth going on the first passenger paid cruise??? I have always thought about it do any of you think its worth the extra money or just wait a few week? Just wondering

I'm sorry, but it is really simple, the main thing to remember is that the ships are practically identical. Pkus both ships alternate itineraries, but one ship is going east while the other is going west.

The ports of call are the same for both ships during those alternating itineraries.

Does that make sense?

Oasis sails the eastern caribbean one week, and then does the western Caribbean the next week.

During the same two weeks: Allure will go to the Western Caribbean the first week and then go the the eastern Caribbean the second week.

The ports of call, during either the eastern or Western Caribbean cruise, by either ship, are the same. So essentially the experience is identical on either ship. It is just up to you to choose which week you want to travel and/or where you want to go.

If you want to go to the Eastern Caribbean on a certain date you will choose the ship that is going there that week. If you want to do both cruises back to back you stay on the same ship. It is just a matter of choosing which date you want to sail and whether you want to go east or west first.

I finally saw the new commercial. At least 75% if it, from the beginning looks like it's advertising a resort. It's not til near the end of the commercial they let you know it's a ship.

Very interesting commercial.

The inaugural is well worth the $$ We did the Oasis Dec 5th and albeit it was my 1st cruise the vibe on the boat was electric!! We were wined and dined and catered to every whim. Even though there were a few glitches with the aqua theatre, we had luckily watched the 'preview' show before the technical problems and got to catch 90% of the whole show.

My favorite lines of the cruise:
"welcome aboard the Oasis, please purell your hands"
"Would you like a glass of champagne?"
walk 5 feet, drop empty glass on a table turn the other way
"Welcome aboard, champagne?"
and repeat a 1/2 dozen times!

Needless to say I already have the itch to book again and if the Allure was an eastern i'd already be reserved...

The weather was amazing in December, almost magical leaving Fort Lauderdale in the drizzly rain only to have the sun shining and the 95 deg heat by the time we woke up the next morning.

Best thing about the Oasis... you don't gain those dreaded cruise lbs - you walk enough that you'll probably lose weight :-)

Paul I don't know if your question was answered but the only aqua show on my cruise was Oasis of Dreams. If "Slip and Splash" is as good as Oasis of Dreams, I would enjoy seeing it.

Seadog...

In fact I have heard that even Ocean of Dreams is struggling to get all 10 portions of the show online. They only have six. There have been a number of setbacks, unfotunately because I was also looking forward to this being a real innovation in onboard entertainment on the ship.

It is still a very good show, but I just know that it had the potential to be even better than it is now.

Splish Splash is still not online. It is supposed to be even more athletic and "fun" that Ocean of Dreams.

I am not sure about "Come fly with Me" because it has some of the same cast members as the AquaTheater shows. I would appreciate getting an update if anyone has seen it.

Bottom line, it just appears the RCL hoped the show would be as "easy" to create as the ice rink shows (as if those were easy), but they have proven to be a bigger challenge than expected.

I do remember the different scenes or portions. I didn't count how many there were though. I can only imagine the difficulty in putting on the entire show, what I did see was pretty awsome.

Come fly with me was different. It was about a working guy who needed a break from work. He invisioned himself being anywhere else. He flew around the theatre by umbrella power, much like Mary Poppins did. I enjoyed the acrobatics. At the end he finally hopped a plane and took off. What I thought was really cool was after the production was over, Ken Rush (Cruise Director) popped out of the cockpit of the plane. Still not sure how or when he got in there but it played really well.

The RCI website has N/A next to every category except deluxe suites.
And the following Eastern Carib sailing on Sept. 25, 2010
has Interior rooms priced at $1999. That's CRAZY !!!!!!
We booked interior last year for $850
You should feel drunk. My husband and I cruised on Oasis May 1, 2010. I could tell you how wonderful the ship is, but I can't do the whole experience justice. The cruise was awesome, amazing, incredible, PERFECT. We love, love, love Oasis and want to go go back on it!!!!

Have FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

We cruised on the Oasis in april and it just a perfect voyage. The Oasis is without a doubt the most fun ship that we have been on.We sailed with friends who have cruised on several other cruiselines and they also said tha the Oasis was the best ship that they have been on.

We have booked the Allure for january and are looking forward to that cruise.
