Question Zipline in Labadee Haiti

Has anyone come back from Labadee since the earthquake? is the Zipline open? is it something that you have to book from the ship or can you get off and get a ride up there and do it? any suggestions would be very appreciated.

We didn't book the Zipline in Labadee, but did book other activities for Haiti on the RCI site as well as onboard.

Returned from Independence cruise on Jan. 23. We went to Haiti and the zip line was operational, nothing at Labadee was affected by the earthquake.

Very glad to hear it! Now I just need to convince my travel partner to come up with me when we call on Labadee next week

I did the zip in Labadee last December - it is very fun. You can probably book it on the island but why not make sure and book it online today? That way you get the time you want.

He's a bit worried about how high it is so I still have some convincing to do I may just tell him he has no choice and its paid for!

Ironically, we're both pilots and he's giving me a hard time about heights. Geez!

If an old man like me can do it anyone can....

Seriously, I have done 4 different ziplines tours and this is the safest one I have been on - there are several redundent safety features - you are practically sitting in an easy chair (no not really).

But it is FAR safer than the ones in Jamaica where the hook and unhook you 6 different times for different ziplines. This is just ONE long zipline so they make very sure you are very ready before they let you go.

They also give you a "test run" before you go down.

There is one thing, though. If you are heavy you might hit pretty hard at the bottom. I did. Not enough to hurt me but pretty hard. But I am near the top of their weight limit.

My wife who weighs under 120 lbs came in like a feather and barely bounced off the springs at the end of the line.

Well I'm sad to report that due to weather I wasn't able to get up to the zipline we were greeted by a lot of "liquid sunshine" for most of the day and apparently they only re-opened the line late in the afternoon. It looked like quite a ride though!

Guess I'll have to go back to experience it for myself

Thanks for the advice Paul!
