Default VOS delayed

The Voyager of the Sea is stuck in fog and unable to port in Galveston this evening.

It should have arrived this morning around 6:00 - 7:00, and sailed out around 5:00 this evening.

I checked the web cam and the fog is so thick, I can't tell whether or not the Carnival Conquest was able to set sail, or not.

Fog really doesn't happen all that often. Our arrival was delayed once, due to fog.

I guess there must have been a lot said about the other time then. I just thought I had read several times about fog in Galveston.

We've never sailed from there although I would like to just to be different as we've never been to Texas. The problem is I don't like Mexico and that's where cruises from there go.

Did the ship get into port yesterday at all?

ya my brother and sister in law where on board vos yesterday morning and from what they said it was crazy. If i remember right they did not get in till 130-200pm and looks like they did not leave till 3-4am this morning. The only way they mad there 330pm flight from Houston was to skip the shuttle and get a cab. Even thou the cab ride cost $240.00 to the airport....When they told me that i was like wow.. American airlines told them that if they missed there flight it would not be till "mid week" before they could be a flight home to Michigan. So they thought it was cheaper to pay that cab fare then have to pay for a hotel for the next few day's etc. So since this post was here i thought i would pass this along. I wonder what it was like last night for all the people who where trying to board VOS. On rccl's site they said not to arrive to the port till 6pm. What do you do if you are already at the pier at noon or so or you are check out of your hotel room? That would be a long time just to sit around with your luggage..

Wow - did they have insurance to pick up that cab bill?

I would assume they could just leave their baggage with the longshoremen and go off for the day. (Now, I don't know where the Galveston dock is so this may not have been practical).

A large number of the passengers, who cruise out of Galveston, drive to the port. Those individuals would have the freedom of enjoying Galveston for the day, keeping their luggage with them.

I'm sure that the longshoremen would be able to store quite a bit of luggage, until the ship returns. It would be very uncomfortable to wait that long at the terminal. If I were in that situation (waiting on the ship), I would grab a taxi and go to Moody Gardens for the day, or if I'm weary from travel, I would find me a cheap hotel room and take a nap!

We live 30 miles from the port, so when our ship was delayed, it wasn't an issue for us.

No they did not.. But there thought's in the long run it was cheaper then missing there flight and having to pay for hotel room's, and any fee's to change there airline flight's. They only had 10 min's to spare i beleive so if they would of waited for the shuttle i beleive they never would of made it... From what i know only a few select few that are on the cruise's live close to port most people have to fly to get there...

We were booked on this cruise (7688 too-great cabin), but we dropped it when we got back from the transatlantic having been on her 21 days. If you will recall we were lucky to get in then due to fog and she spent the next two days in port. Our friends did keep the booking and sent us a few emails last night from the ship. They were told to be there at 5:00 pm and didn't get on the ship until 7:00 pm. They took a photo of the gift I had sent them and two empty chairs on on the balcony saying 'wish you were here'. I kinda wish we had kept the booking. The VoS got away about 2:00 a.m. local time. I hope they get to keep Roatan as my friends love it. It will be interesting to see what they do to make up the time.
