Default Beaches

We are going on the Oasis. We only want to beach it at the ports. Is it really necessary for us to pay for an excursion to get us to the beaches? Are they close to the port or doable with a taxi ride?

Yes, in some ports, its a easy taxi ride to the beach. What are the ports you will be visiting?

Are you going Eastern or Western? Eastern itinerary you can just go to the beach yourselves, just ask a local at the pier where the best beach is and have a taxi take you there. The only place where an excursion would be advised is if you are on the Western itinerary in Jamaica. Have a great cruise.

When are you going to be on the Oasis? We will be there Apr 10 and Apr 17, doing a back2back.

St. Maarten and St. Thomas are very easy to reach the beach, without doing an excursion.

In St. Maarten, take the water taxi, from the pier, to town. When you get to town, you are at the beach! Pick your chair and enjoy! The street that runs parallel to the beach has lots of shops on it, so when you want to do a little shopping, it is very convenient. I LOVE St. Maarten!

In St. Thomas, take the taxi to either Magen's Bay or Sapphire Beach. I have been to both and will go back to one (or both) of them when we cruise. Here is a link that tells about all the beaches on St. Thomas:

St. Thomas Beach Guide

I'm not sure about Nassau. We will be in port for only a half day, so I really don't know what is available. I need to figure this one out, too!

It won't be long! I'm excited!

I would say on St Martin go to Orient Beach- taxi is around $6 per person. They are all lined up outside the Welcome Center as you emerge...
