well...the main dining room is wonderful....as is Windjammer the buffet.

Johnny Rockets might be fun too, especially for your almost teen.....

as for portofino, i haven't ever been there to eat, but i hear it is very good...there is an extra charge for this (and johnny rockets..)

Dinner will be every night in the MDR unless you choose to go someplace else....

what would you like to know about eating????

sorry, no kids so i cant comment on that program but i am sure someone else will!

Explorer is a great ship!

i have lots of photos...check below. i also have some from last month's back to back..you should be able to find them by clicking the picasaweb link...then you should be able to see all my albums

Thanks for the info Meg. We are also cruising with Mom (70+ yrs old). We could not get the early setting for dining (on the waiting list). No one likes to eat late. How easy is it to get reservations for diner? Can you call early for same day? Also Ports of call in San Juan St Martin and Kings Wharf. Any good family exercusions?

Thanks again

Chops is very good if you want to make the reservation and spend a few dollars more, well worth it.

There is a beach right by the pier in St. Maarten, some water sports, chairs, restaurant/bar, etc...If you look at your excursions, lots to choose from there, the AMerica's Cup Regatta is great fun, very physical if you choose one of those jobs, or you can be a bartender or timer, no activity, just enjoy the race....

Its also a nice town to walk through and shop a bit.

actually if you did My Time Dining you can make them on line on the my cruises page....

you can try and reserve for the whole week on the ship too......
it's pretty easy if you don't want a popular dinner time or if you can be a little flexible....
