Default Opinions please on explorer or Enchantment

I'll start this by saying I already am booked on the Carnival Dream next year but I'm having second thoughts. I have the option of going on Explorer out of NJ or the Enchantment out of Baltimore. I can see the reviews of the explore but it looks like no one has left a review of the Enchantment in a few years. Can anyone tell me if they have sailed on either and what they liked and disliked. I'm sailing with my three kids (8,11, 13 ) and want to makes sure there are fun things to do for them.
thanks so much

I have sailed Explorer of the Seas and will say that if you want more activities a great Royal Promenade and ice skating rink then Explorer is a great choice.

I'm not a mega-ship fan but that is because I prefer a smaller ship because of the more intimate feel to the sea but the Voyager class is still one of Royal Caribbean's best selling ships.

The only advantage I can see between Dream and Voyager would be that Dream is a newer ship.

I don't think you will be disappointed with either choice.

Take care,
Mike

I sailed the Enchantment, pre stretch and loved it. I also sailed the Freedom of the Seas, and loved the newness, and all the options offered. imho...book the Voyager, if you decide to cancel the Dream, which I think you would all enjoy.

Cruised on Explorer last August and Enchantment last November.

I liked Explorer better. Bigger ship with more to do and a great crew. With the ages of your kids I would go with Explorer.

Both Explorer and Enchantment have an awesome 9 nite itinerary with 4 full sea days.

Looks like Explorer would be a shorter drive to get to also.

I'm looking into Explorer again for the summer had a blast on Explorer first time around. The majority of the cruisers on Explorer are from Jersey/New York.
Put a ship load of Jersey and New York folks together and that is one fun cruise!

thanks so much for the update. Can you tell me if the ship has been taken care of? I keep going back and forth about the Dream.. A lot of the posts about the Dream seem to be complaints of smells on the ship, long lines, etc..
The only think holding me back is the itinerary for the Dream is really nice. What to do, what to do.

Just got off the Explorer about a month ago; I thought the ship was in great shape. I saw a lightbulb burned out around noon, by 8pm that night it had been replaced! So they definitely keep on top of the ship's maintenance.

I think the only thing I saw that was not working was the golf simulator.

But they do have rock climbing, miniature golf, basketball, dodgeball, in line skating, ping pong, game arcade... yeah I think the kids will be busy and have their fair share of fun.

Besides which all the staff and crew love the kids, usually give them special attention.

My first and only cruise to date was on the Enchantment, so I have nothing to compare it to. I can only say my family and I had a great time and we loved the ship. My son was 16 when we sailed the Enchantment and he made LOTS of friends in their teen club. I actually had to schedule meal times with him just to see him. Our second cruise is scheduled this Summer but this one is with Carnival. I can only hope this cruise is as fun as the first. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Hubby and I cruised on the Enchantment for our 2nd cruise. I can't explain it but this was my favorite ship. We had a balcony room and it seemed to be huge. Our bathroom was big too. We have since been on 6 more cruise and this ship stills rates on the top.

Just my 2 cents, but since you are cruising with the kids, I think there is more for them to do on Explorer, they will love it.

Thank you everyone that posted... Moved over from the Dream to Explorer. So much more and a few extra days. Now the hard part is waiting until next year.
