We've been on many cruises before and will be leaving in 3 weeks on the Oasis. It's been harder this time to get info on the ship before we leave since it's so new. I was wondering about dinner attire. I have two boys, 11 and 9. Is it ok for them to wear jeans or even nice shorts to dinner on nights that are not formal? What about the hubby and jeans? Also how do I find out what night the formal nights are?
We are going to be celebrating our anniversary and want to do one of the restaurants on board. I don't really think I want to do the $75 one. Which of the others is a good choice?
Why do you want to wear jeans on a Caribbean cruise?
Wouldn't the guys be more comfortable in a pair of light slacks?

It is your vacation, you can wear what you want. On non fromal nights most men and kids will be in slacks for dinner. You will see some in shorts or jeans. If you have used a travel agent to book your cruise; ask your travel agent when formal nights are; if you booked thru Royal directly, send them an email and they will let you know. If you have access to Royal Caribbeans website; log on and pull up your reservation; you should be able to book the specialty resturaunts prior to cruising; you should be albe to see the prices of the various resturaunts.
Cheers, hav fun

Honestyly - jeans in the dining room will be out of place, but you can eat at plenty of other places like the buffet area, the Seafood Shack, in the Royal Promenade, etc.
But I would recommend a pair of light slacks. Like you said, the ship is so big that after dinner you can walk around in jeans and people won't really notice, but in the dining room I think you will stand out.
I am the editor, but I also speculate, ask questions and play devil's advocate. I reserve the right to change my mind.
I may be wrong but on most lines they say children under a certain age must wear at least "Smart Casual" they do not expect dinner suits, although some do this I think the jury is out...a bit "American Pageant"
