Default Air Fare in April

Hi All! I sure could use some advice. I cruise with my grandson, so all of our vacations need to be scheduled around school. Here's my question: I booked the Allure for April 3, 2011 - a 7 day cruise. We just got back earlier this month from a cruise that departed from Miami. I paid $189.00 for a round trip airfare ticket.

I thought I'd have plenty of time to book airfare for April 2011, but decided to log onto Delta's website. The fares I'm finding for Fort Lauderdale, departure for the Allure, are at least $344.00. Should I wait till later in the year and hope for cheaper fares, or book now?

Thanks in advance!

Exclamation Airfare

There are several websites that will monitor prices for you, and alert you when a low fare is posted. One that I use is www.bookingbuddy.com, but there are several others. I'm currently monitoring prices for a round-trip to Baltimore.

Fort Lauderdale is more expensive than Miami. I am currently looking at airfrare for next Jan. I too will be on Allure. right now the best price on Delta is $335 including taxes.

I disagree, that Fll is more than Miami, for me, it has usually been the other way around......Just last week, I got Spirit Air, for $77, and change....Add, on the baggage fees, which included carryon, and the fee to pick your seat...the total still came out less then the other carriers, for 2, less than $500.00..this was for travel in Oct/Nov.

Signing up for the fare alerts is a good thing..I had several alerts coming to me.

Actually, that price is not too bad. For me too, more to Ft. Lauderdale than Miami...Last time I checked it was over $500 from Chi to Ft. Lauderdale.

If course it does depend on when you're flying, but a couple of weeks ago I was able to get Southwest for December for 2 of us BUF/FLL for total of $538 with taxes.

As a Canadian I find this an excellent price.

Even being in the business, I always run FLL and MIA. When we go to see the Allure we fly into FLL and out of Miami and it still counts as a roundtrip fare. Ground transportation is more to MIA of course but easily covered by our savings on the flights.

Robbie, when I need to shuttle between the 2 airports, I use Reservations for SAS Shuttle Service. I am using then again in October...the price is $15.00 pp and they are quite reliable. Contractually, the pickup must begin in Fll..for me this is great, because I always precuise there.

Thx Trip, we fly out of MIA post but always good to hear deals I can recommend to customers.

I didn't think I would be at all excited about the Allure but NOW that I've booked it, different story..WOO-HOO!

I am sorry I didn't clarify myself. I live in Cincinnati, OH; we do not have any low cost carriers; ie; southwest; airtran, spirit etc.; so my only option is to fly delta; if I fly cont'l or us air express, I can not fly nonstop, which means the airfare is more when I have to stop in another city. So Delta is way cheaper to fly nonstop to Mia than to FLL. sorry for any confusion.

For some reason, whenever I fly Delta, its never a non-stop, always a stop in Atlanta...I know that is their main hub, but a flight or two non-stop from Chicago couldn't be that difficult.
