Hi Viv,
Just keep in mind, that in case there is bad weather, the captain will steer the ship away from it. There is always the possibility of a port change or missed stop in that case, but there is not much you can do about it. At this point, I wouldn't worry about it.

thanks for info. Earl won't be a problem for us in Oct but he may have cousin that could cause some problems for us.
I know it doesn't do any good to worry but that's what I do .

When in Oct are you leaving? the average hurricane season peaks in early sept. and declines rapidly by the end of October.

Viv, I have cruised in October many times, and have loved it..The one time, we "almost" had an issue was in November....The prices are worth the gamble in my opinion, but any cruiser needs to realize, you may get an entirely different itinerary,as the ships going eastern, are now doing a western...Literally cruisers are going with the flow, during hurricane season. I am cruising Oct 30th

Don't worry, go and have a good time. There is very little chance of a hurricane late in october.

I have cruised a few times in the fall, and have had perfect weather, so think positive and have a great cruise.

Hi there!

We are going on our 7th cruise in November...it leaves on November 7th. All of our cruises have either been in September, October or November.....it's all GOOD!

Our very first cruise in September 2004 was on the Grandeur of the Seas, and as we arrived at the pier they were handing out sheets of paper as you checked in, the whole itinerary was changed, no Key West, Cozumel, or Belize because of Hurricane Jeanne coming up the coast. We were diverted out to Bermuda for 2 days and then went on to Nassau and Freeport.....no worries, we LOVED every second of our cruise!
I noticed you're going on the Explorer of the Seas...you'll LOVE this ship, we are going on her after you get back, take good care of her! This will be our 4th time on the Explorer

You'll have a great time! Enjoy!
Gail

I live in Miami so I have first hand experience about tropical storms and hurricanes Anyways mid August to around mid September - we get the most storms then they rapidly diminish. Once in awhile we get these "rogue" storms in October though but not often.

When our Cruisemates group, sailed on the Golden, for our NY Eve cruise, we pre cruised with 80 degrees, and disembarked, seeing our breath As we entered the terminal, the greeter said..Welcome to Alaska!

As we cruised in the Bahamas, we were all wearing jackets, by the pool. For the first time ever, my stomach was doing flip flops.....

So, timing is everything, no matter when you cruise....

Oh Trip,
I do remember that cruise, we all froze those last 2 days...We were also stuck inside. Needless to say, I don't care to cruise that early in the year, wait 2 months and totally different temps.

My first cruise was to Cozumel & Playa del Carmen On Oct. 11, 2003. The weather was cool & rainy leaving N.O. The next morning we woke up to warm sunny weather & it lasted the rest of the trip. It was beauitful & I have been hooked on cruising since then. We went in Feb. this year & the weather was cool & windy except for a couple of days. I don't think I will try that again. We are leaving again Oct. 16th. I can't wait!!!
