Default hotels in ft lauderdale & excursions in St. Marteen

Hi all,
Thought I already created this earlier today, but don't see it, so I guess I messed up somewhere along the line. Looking for a reasonable pre and post cruise stay around ft.lauderdale - also looking for a day trip in St. Marteen - preferably an all inclusive - got some great advice last itme I cruised to western carribbean - went to a resort for a one day all inclusive - great day.

OK, hopefully, I've done things correctly this time and this will post.
Thanks to everyone who responds,

Try the Hyatt Place on 10th st- it used to be an Amerisuites until they remodeled it.
They have a complimentary airport and port shuttle, they provide a continental breakfast. Rooms are spacious with a kitchen area. They have a small pool.
You can walk across a parking lot at the back of the hotel to a Publix supermarket and liquor store. There is an Outback and Mexican restaurant a couple of doors down. If you want to ride down to the beach you can catch the Sun Trolley, it stops outside the Embassy Suites ( next door).
I booked through ValueTrips.com Travel Discounts and Specials for the best price.

We have reservations at the Lago Mar resort hotel for next month in Fort Lauderdale. We booked it because it is right on the beach by the harbor inlet. Will let you know how it is after we return but look it up online it looked great to us. As for St. Maarten the first time we went we went to the Divi Little Bay resort. It is a timeshare place but they didn't make us sit through anything just let hang out at the beach all day. There were people right where you get off the water taxi that set us up with it. It was a very nice place with all the water toys to rent and a nice lunch restaurant. It also is only about 5-10 minutes away from the port.

Try priceline or hotwire, and put in 31/2 ~4 star downtown for Lauderdale, and start bidding around 59.00....I did this a while back, and found out prices are much higher this year..I got The Westin, for 70.00, vs the Renaissance last year for $59.00. The best place to stay in my opinion is, around the A1A area..right by the port..shopping, with drug store, and super market, in the Harbor Shops, which is right next door to Hyatt Place and restaurants, all within walking distance..

You can also use hotel points if you have any; In St. Martaan, you can have lots of fun on your own. The ship docks right at the beach area; you can walk off the ship and go into town; there you can shop, eat, drink, or sunbathe. U can rent scooters there and take a ride around to the French side.

yd, A1A, is the main drag, by the port. Quite close to the airport as well. Concentrated with hotels, with many price points, restaurants, and, shopping areas. A quick shuttle or taxi ride, and you are at the port in minutes..

If you are pre or post cruisng the beautiful beach is close by,and lots of things to do, and see. Need any more info, just yell

I stayed at the Sheraton last month which is nice if you want to be right on the beach. I passed the Renaissance which looked nice and had some great deals online. It is also near a water taxi stop.

I have seen some good reviews on the Embassy Suites on 17th st. They say u can walk to the grocery store; and you are a few blocks from the harbour and several nice resturaunts.

There is a shopping strip behind the hotel, with a Publix supermarket, big liquor store and some other small shops, can't remember what they were.
You can catch the Sun Trolley ( free) which makes a circuit down to the Beach, stops at Las Olas etc right outside the hotel. You can HOHO and don't need to be at a bus stop , just wave your arm and they'll stop for you. Just a block or so to the Outback and a Mexican restaurant, (by Hyatt place) it's a busy commercial road.

Trip, the shopping area that you have posted in your thread; you mention it's across from the Hyatt Place; does that mean right across the street or down the street; also the Embassy Suites is on 17th, so it looks like this shopping area would be about a ten to fifteen minute walk; does this sound about right to you?

AF1, The shopping area is on the same side of A1A, as Hyatt Place, and the Embassy Suites is the next in line I believe. There is a small street next to the Hyatt, with axcess, right into it. It's a hop skip and a jump, aka, an easy walk.....
