Default Just back from the Voyaoger OTS in Europe

Just back from our European cruise aboard the Voyager OTS. We had a fantastic cruise! The ship was beautiful, the stops in Italy and France were the best shore excursions, and we can safely call this our best cruise yet.

Getting over the long flights and fighting the jet lag today. We took over 500 pictures and I plan on spending the day going through the pictures and playing with our 1 year old who had her own little vacation at grandma's and grandpa's.

This makes the 10th cruise credit, so we are officially Diamond Members now on RCI!

Glad you had a good time. We will be making this same cruise the end of the month and then staying on for the two weeks back to Galveston. Good to hear the excursions were good.

You should be able to see all the shore excursions at the Royal Caribbean web-site. Be sure to put in all your pre-cruise info as well, makes boarding a lot smoother.

Nice to hear that you had a great cruise, Scott!
I will be doing the same cruise, boarding now on Sunday.

Brian, try this link (don't know if it works):
Onboard Experience - Royal Caribbean International

Put in your ship and sail date and a pdf of all shore and land excursions should be downloaded. Don't know if you will have the prize in Swedish Kronor (as I have) but you can change that before you hit "Download Brochure".

I'm booked on the Adventure of the Sea's for Nov 2011. This will be my first time in Europe. The ship is sailing from Malaga Spain with ports in Portugal and Canary Islands, then going trans-atlantic to stop in St.Maarten and finally docking in Puerto Rico. I am very excited to go a couple of days before the cruise and shop in Spain.

Do you have any tips for the first time European cruiser? I know I may need an adapter for my hair dryer, but does anyone know if I only need one adaptor for all my electronics? Will that same adaptor work for my cell and iPod?

Thanks for any tips!!

You do not need an adaptor while onboard the ship. All RCI ships have standard 110v plugs in the cabins on all their ships. You also might want to bring a power strip if you have multiple electronics to charge, as there are only 2 plugs in the cabin. In any hotels in Spain, you will need an adaptor, if the hotel has lots of American guests the front desk will have free adaptors. Ours did in Barcelona.

Also, be prepared for the VAT tax. Everything you buy onboard the ship has an 18% VAT tax added to it. And I do mean EVERYTHING! Every drink, every spa treatment, speciality restaurant, onboard shops, pictures and everything else will have an 18% VAT tax applied to it. For merchandise purchased at the onboard shops, they will give you a VAT receipt on the last night you can get stamped in customs and get a portion of that VAT tax returned. On shore, the VAT tax is already included in the price, but onboard, they add it on to everything you purchase. So be prepared!

Sistergoldenhair;

Malaga, Spain was the home of Pablo Picaso the famous artist. His family runs a museum downtown; if you are into art; suggest you visit; I enjoyed it.

If you are cruising within the European Union (EU) VAT tax is always added.
European countries outside of EU are Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Croatia, Turkey and some of the former Soviet satellite states.
If you have a stop in some of the countries outsied of EU the VAT tax is removed.

I guess I didn't buy anything onboard the ship; so that's why I didn't see any vat tax

Yes, you need to by a currency convertor. It will have two settings a low and a high. Leave it on High ...if you set it on low and it needs to pull more currency it will blow out and you have to replace the circuit. My Dad informed me it could also wreck the item. On the cruise ship.
