Default Port Everglades Hotel Advice

I'll be in Ft. Lauderdale on Dec. 31st for a Jan. 1st cruise and I need to find a hotel in the area. Also, Im looking for one that is fair priced. Any ideas out there? Thanks, Bill

Were going to stay at Holiday inn express when we go next year. Clost to the airport and walking distance to the ship.

Walk to the ship from the airport? Are you sure you don't mean a shuttle bus over to the port....?

We have stayed at the Hyatt Place, it's a reasonable price, we booked via Valutrips.com they will pick you up at the airport and shuttle you to the port in the am. There are several restaurants within a block, a Publix supermarket and a liquor store behind the hotel and if you want to ride down to the beach you can get on the Suntrolley.

We're flying into FFL on Jan.28 and have booked a night at the Rodeway Inn and Suites Airport/Cruiseport. It is NOT near the beach or any fancy restaurants-pretty bare bones but has all we need-pick up at the airport and shuttle to Port Everglades. Keep in mind that any hotels with banquet facilities are liable to be having New Years Eve events and the rooms will be booked early-we booked 2 months ago.

We stayed the night before our Oasis cruise last month at the Lago Mar Resort. It was beautiful, great service right on the beach. It is right by the harbor inlet and was very reasonably priced. Great food there too. I definitely recommend it. If you are up early enough you could even watch your ship pull in.

I was just in Lauderdale, last week, and the boat show was in..boy did the prices go sky high for that week. The Hyatt Place is in a great area, with the Harbor Shops, right next door...If you book on Priceline enter a 4 star hotel, and you may get the Reanaissance as I did last year for $59.00. Start bidding at that price, is my suggestion...and then go up, in small increments. If you go to the Hotel forum, you will sww a post I put up, for hotels with shuttles.

We stayed at the Rodeway Inn last December before our Ruby Princess cruise. The hotel is OK, but the airport shuttle is not easy to find and not very reliable. We just couldn't find it, we called the hotel 3 times for directions on where to get the shuttle, ended up in a dark corner of the airport at the end of a taxi stand, and the shuttle never showed up. We ended up taking a taxi. The shuttle to the port was better, they actually showed up at the hotel. For a single night stay pre-cruise, the Rodeway Inn is OK, but I wouldn't stay there for any more than that.

Ons shuttle service to try is http://www.ridesas.com/html/reservations.html.. we used them yesterday, and last year as well....they can pick up at Lauderdale hotels and drop off at both ports..$15.00 pp...reliable and the least expensive I have found.

I emailed them a while back and Steve replied, said they no longer went into Port Everglades because of traffic backing up they could not meet their appt times..... I take it they have resumed going in there again?
A couple of days ago I recommended them to a friend for a shuttle from MIA over to FLL airport and he got the reply they had stopped doing that run....

Thanks for the heads up on the Rodeway. I've spent the morning looking for an option-WOW-have the prices ever gone up since we booked I think we'll take our chances on the airport shuttle, even if we end up taking a cab to Rodeway it's going to be a LOT cheaper than booking another hotel. We really got a good price.

Ok, I'm a Ft Laud local, and I can tell you about the Rodeway Inn. It's an older truckstop in an unsavory part of town. I wouldn't recomend walking anywhere from there, but there is a newly renevated sports bar in there that's pretty nice. If you're looking for value, try the Bahia Mar Resort. It's also older, but it's across the street from the beach, and you get a much better Ft Lauderdale experience. If you want to go nicer yet, the Embassy Suites is uch nicer, and still reasonable rates. Good luck.

Question Riverside Hotel, Las Olas Blvd.

Does anyone know anything about the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas Blvd? We are booked there for March.

Riverside is a very very good choice! Nice place, and prime location. Dining, nightlife, and shopping at your doorstep, beach and airport a short cab ride. Very safe and nice part of town. If there is a down side, it may be a little noisy right on Las Olas. For a fantastic dinner, I recommend Chima. It's a Brazillan Steakhouse a short cab ride from you on Las Olas. Gread food, service, and apmosphere. A little pricey at about $75 a person with a few drinks and tip, but hey, you're on vacation right!?

I'm booked at the Westin Fort Lauderdale. I understand that I need to take a cab from the airport, but does any know how long the drive is from the Westin downtown to the pier? My guess is 20 minutes?

Is the Westin Cypress Creek closer? I can switch if you feel it would be closer/easier to get to/from?

No, you are closer.....I had,not many choices I was there when the boat show was going on...this one was right off 95,and well situated for all my pre cruise jaunts...IMHO...A1A, is the MOST convenient place in the thick of all good things
