Default Pearl or LOS

I realize that this is a RCI thread, but what are your opinions regarding NCL Pearl vs. LOS in February 2011. Obviously LOS is an 8 night cruise, but other than that is it worth the $1200 more in price for basically the same itinerary?

If you are refering to the Liberty of the Seas, I found it to be so nice that I have done it twice.

I'd take $100 of that savings, going on the Pearl, enjoy all the alternative restaurants onboard, and enjoy the Pearl.

If that's for the same category of cabin, that price difference is outrageous imho.

Seems like a pretty steep price jump for one extra day. I'd double check you're comparing apples to apples (cabin type, location on ship, etc.). Liberty is a larger ship with more amenities than NCL. Also, in general I believe Royal Caribbean has a better product to offer overall in terms of ships design, amenities, service, etc. Keep in mind, sometimes you pay for what you get. You may want to look at Freedom of the Seas as she is on a 7-day run and visits many of the same places.

I agree the above statement, and I would have my TA do some research to get me a better price.

I agree with this except for the "etc". For years now the general feeling has been that RCI has slid near to the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to food. They do rely and on the ship and atmosphere, design to be enough to draw passengers.

As I've said often with regard to NCL, go prepared to spend the extra $100 or so $ person and enjoy all the great alternate restaurants and I think any of the NCL newer ships are a great choice.

Haven't sailed the Pearl yet myself, but I think I'd enjoy the bowling alley too.

The casual dress codes on NCL are also more attractive to me at this stage of my "cruise life"... makes packing much simpler.

While Royal has been criticized for their food, I would argue that the reviews on food quality have been very positive; especially Oasis's reviews.

The food on the Oasis was excellent.

I liked the food better on the Liberty OTS than I did on the Carnival Liberty.

Default Thank you!

I have a feeling we are going to do the LOS because most of our party wants a big ship. I just have this feeling that once we have paid in full, the price on LOS will drop and because we booked after 5/17/2010 we get nothing back.

Anyway thanks for your comments.
