Paul,

I'm wondering if, in the above statement, you meant to say: "For example all suite guests will now get priority seating in the theaters and deck chair placement near the pools."

It will be interesting to see how this goes over.

Take care,

The priority seating on "Radiance" even had the distinction of suite guests in one row and D+ in the row behind them. The seats were color coded and marked. This wasn't the case on the "Explorer" last month BUT they did offer me VIP seating with my D+ card. I know it smacks of class warfare but I still enjoy their efforts ;>)

2 weeks to the "ALLURE!!"

Paul - quick question:

1. Does your cabin have an iPod docking station? If so, have they installed special speaker in the ceiling to listen to your music or is it piped through the TV speakers? Also, perhaps it's more of an iHome device (i.e., clock radio / iPod dock)? Perhaps you can post a photo for us?

2. To confirm, the food at Starbucks is NOT free? Are the prices for beverages and food at Starbucks consistent as those in your local Starbucks?

3. Could you take picture inside or around the Diamond Lounge? I understand it has a balcony over looking central park?

Thanks!

I have a lot more to upload soon - including a meeting of Oasis amd Allure at sea last night off the coast of Ft Lauderdale. oasis was just taking off while we qwere off the coast just sort of wairting to go into port for the next mornings disembarkation.

The Oasis looked beautiful at night. I will upload a couple of thumbnails that you can click on - then I will do an album and some videos later.

The idea of this meeting - the first time ther sister ships crossed paths at sea, was to exchange some presidents. Our captain who was a hoot originally said we were going to put thr two bridge wings together (and he said it wiith a straight face) to which Richard Fain reacted with shock.

Then the truth came out - that they planned to exchange the presents using small zodiac type boats between the two vessels.

In the first picture it was still light out and the Oasis was just starting to get closer. The sun was going down fast. It eventually got darker before they were ready to send the two boasts out. In the last pic you can see the two boats hanging around the open hatch on Oasis (we were taking shots from Allure_ before the boat quickly truened around and returned to our ship, and Oasis quickly resumed its journey.

They already had met (perhaps unofficially or a rehersal) at sea. I posted a photo on Cruisemates in the Allure is Big thread. It was all the Allure crew on deck with the Oasis sailing up to them. I think they created a 'media event' for y'all!

Paul, we just got off the Carnival Miracle on the 19th, if I'd known you were on the Allure, I'd have waved! I was on deck taking photos of the Allure on our last morning in port.
Can't wait to see more pics, it looked an amazing ship!

Donna.. She does look terrific... and you are very lucky you're going to be hosting the CruiseMates Group Cruise on her in 2011.. so you'll be onboard for a full week.

Now seeing all the coverage of her debut, I bet everyone is going to want to join you. We have a GREAT deal on this brand new beauty for the CM group with Donna...

Cruisemates Cruise, Allure of the Seas October 2nd, 2011.

Sorry if I missed this - yes they do have the Rising Tide bar - just like Oasis. Ironically, I never took it. (guess i dont really see the point).

We ate at the Churrascarria on the last night and it was exceptional. Just like on Epic they have a great hor d' ouevre/ salad bar to start out then they start bringing the meat.

They have a bit of everything - veal, chicken, lambchops, catanya, (which is delectible tri-tip). It was all just great.

They also started with a special Brazilian soup I did not try but I heard it was excellent. Sorry I dont remember what it is called.

We also had an exchgange of gifts betyween Allure and Oasis at sea outside the port of Ft Lauderdale. Oasis sailed out to meet us saturday night as we were waiting to re-enter the port. It was interestinfg to see Oasis at Sea like that.

I was just looking at Paul's article about the Royal Advantage Enhancements. I am curious how they are addressing sanitation issues with the new "smart" soda fountains. People with the soda card get a glass with a computer chip so the fountain knows it is an authorized cup. What if it is a dirty authorized cup with bacteria on it?

OH GOSH! I hope not!

I really dislike the idea of having to carry a cup everywhere with you on the ship. You would think your seapass would show you had a drink card and you could just get a new cup. I don't want to be holding a cup in my hands at all times, or have to walk all the way back to my cabin to get my cup if i get thirsty.

You don't have to use the souvenir cup. You can still show your soda sticker at any bar and get a glass of soda. However many think they have to use the souvenir cup and you just know that some do not wash it. It's one reason bartenders will ask that the person remove the top - so the bartender doesn't have to touch it.

I don't see that as an issue Dave. How does the bacteria get from one persons cup to another? I know I never allow my cup to touch the dispenser, just catch the liquid as it falls down.

Can't wait, I'll be sailing on the 7 night inaugural on Dec. 5th. I was on the Oasis, 4 night pre inaugural last year, the best cruise of my life. I'm looking forward to Allure topping that!

Default Allure of the Seas/Taylor Swift

I recently won tickets off radio from Pop2Life to cruise the Allure of the Seas in Jan 2011. I've never cruised before but have wanted to all my life. This trip will be for me and my 9 year old daughter who will turn 10 while we are in Costa Maya. We are really looking forward to our trip in 2 weeks and I wanted to say thank you to all who have posted about this ship. It has been real informative and I'm hoping to have the time of our lives. Added benefit: Taylor Swift will be performing onboard during our trip. My daughter is a HUGE fan of Taylor Swift and is truly excited to get to see her!

I do have a question I'm hoping someone could answer. When visiting ports of call, should I already have cash on me or do they take credit cards? Is there somewhere I can access a machine to obtain cash onboard?

Congrats on an amazing win! For alll major purchases I would use a credit card..Keep some small bills for smaller & serendipity purchases,

Your daughter will be thrilled with all the things on board for her to do, as well as Taylor! You will be in heaven..enjoy every second and yayayay for you both!
