Default Boarding time for Voyager in Gavleston?

I always try to get on the ship and start my vacation as early as possible. I've sailed with Carnival from Galveston several times in the past few yrs. I usually show up at 11am and be the first or second group to board at 11:30.

I'm about to sail with RC for the first time departing from Galveston on Dec 26th. My paper work say boarding time at 2pm. Are they strict with this? What is the actual time when the boarding starts? If boarding is actually before 2pm and I show up before then, will I be made to wait until 2pm?

It's pretty much the same as you have done with Carnival in the past. Keep the same schedule you mentioned and you should be among the first to board.

That being said, if weather is bad Terminal 2 does not have the indoor waiting area that Terminal 1 has so if it's bad I wouldn't want to show up early just to stand in line outside. But you'd probably be inside anyway arriving that early.

Also, keep in mind that your cabin may not be ready until 1:00 or so, but you can still get lunch in the Windjammer Cafe and walk around the ship until then.

I just checked and see that Carnival Conquest is in port on the same day (12/26) as Voyager. Does Galveston port have the capability to process both ship's disembark/embark at the same time or will they have to stagger the order for the 2 ships? If so, is there a way to find out which ship gets first dib?

They have two ship terminals. They have had two ships in port on Sundays for many years. It will be fine.

As long as there is no fog that morning! If there is then all bets are off. We have spent several cold January mornings sitting in the car waiting to get into the parking lot for 3 hours. The ship never docked until 11am. Finally boarded at 4pm.

Now, we check to see if the ship has actually docked before driving down to Galveston. Frankly, just hope you are not sailing Jan 16 2011 as we seem to have terrible luck when it comes to foggy cruise embarkations.

A friend had that fog ordeal last December. They didn't leave Galveston for 2 days. I've been watching the weather. Looks like strong cold front pushing thru Saturday morning so Sunday morning looks to be more stable with lower humidity. I've got the terminal live camera on my PC to look at condition Sunday morning.

How can you check to see if a ship has docked?

I believe a lot of ports have port cams, so you can see who is there. Also, ships have them, I know Princess and Royal Caribbean ships have them and you can go to their web-sites and view the cams.
