Question Radiance of the Seas..bad review?

Hi, I'm getting ready for our first cruise, and I have found quite a few negative reviews for this ship..now I'm really concerned. This is our last big trip before our son leaves for college and I want it to be special. Others in my family have always cruised on RCL and liked it...Any comments from here?

Just sailed on Radiance for new years, it was an awesome cruise, beautiful shp and experience. Nothing to worry about. I've sailed on 40 cruises, you'll have a great experience.

I am surprised, as this ship always gets some great reviews. Glad DM had a great time, and I bet you will too!

Late last year and early this year Radiance had some major plumbing problems and the plumbing on the passenger decks was replaced. This caused a lot of toilet and water problems. This created water and toilet outages and some bad smells in the corridors and cabins.

We sailed her in February and noticed a couple instances of this. (Odor) The Royal Suite was out of commission for two days of the cruise to replace the plumbing. It was then used as a Bingo prize for someone to have for the rest of the cruise. We met the couple who had booked the Royal Suite. They were informed that the suite was having plumbing problems and would need work for a couple of days. They were given an Owners Suite and a VERY good shipboard credit to move. They were more than happy because they had been upgraded to the RS from an Grand Suite so they still ended up with a better cabin.

When we sailed her the only major issues were some mediocre food but otherwise the ship was fine and this class of ship, IMO, is the most beautiful of any ship at sea.

I think you will have a great time onboard. I would not hesitate to book her again.

Take care,
Mike

Default Make the Cruise your own

Your Cruise will be what you make of it not of someone else wrote a review about. Keep in mind that some people write bad reviews because of all the little things they didn't like. YOUR cruise will be as much fun as YOU can make it. What do you want to do? You are in charge. You decide if you want to go to the comedy show or the Casino and try your luck. You decide if you what the Chicken or the Steak at Dinner and if you don't like what you get. Look at the menu again there are no prices on the Menus order something else or have 3 desserts if you what. Do not let reviews control your trip. The people that you travel with also make a great trip. New friends, new memories and enjoying all that with your mate is priceless. Remember you will make the trip the best ever and you will be very proud that you did it yourself. It is a beautiful ship and a floating city to explore. Have the greatest Cruise ever. No more worries. Ed

Thank you for all of your comments. My kids are super excited and now I am feeling much better. 38 days until we leave and I can't wait! Now, if we can just get dug out from our last snow storm..

Again, many thanks

Default We're back...

We just returned from our first cruise on the Radiance, and we couldn't be happier! It was a wonderful trip! The weather was beautiful, warm & sunny, the crew was lovely, polite and accomodating! Yes, the rooms could use a little updating, but we didn't actually spend that much time in the room, so not really a big deal. The food, especially in the dining room was wonderful; my son is still raving about the Prime Rib from the last night. The food in the Windjammer was not so "gourmet", but that's OK; the variety made up for it. If you can't find something to eat, then you are beyond picky. My three teenagers were almost never to be seen, which pretty much means that they were having a wonderful time.
My husband & I didn't over do it on the activities, but that's what vacation is all about. There was stuff to do, but we mostly sat, read and relaxed. My only complaint is the whole deck chair issue; when there are towels on the chairs by 7:30 a.m., it's pretty hard to find a chair later in the day. But we adjusted, and had a great time. Thanks to all for you earlier comments. Hopefully this won't be our last cruise.
