Default Oasis of the Seas - Just Returned

Hello all!

Just returned from a 7-night western caribbean run onboard Oasis of the Seas. It was a great trip on a wonderful ship. Now having sailed both Oasis and Allure, I'd say they were able to "tweak" Allure with a few improvements over Oasis that given Allure my vote for better ship. A few things that I really enjoyed about Allure that Oasis did not have: iPod docking stations & clocks in every cabin, Dog House (hot dog place and Rita's Cantina. Pretty minor stuff, otherwise the ships are almost identical. The shows onboard both ships were amazing, the cruise line really did a wonderful job with the production aspects.

From a port of call perspective, the only new stop for me was Falmouth, Jamaica. The port area they built for the ship is really nice, or should I say will be really nice when they complete it. It's going to have some really nice shopping areas, food places and stores. Right now, it's still under construction. I'd probably give it a year before it's fully operational. I was a bit surprised that it's a full (1) hour drive from Falmouth to Duns River Falls. For some reason I did not expect the distance to be that great; if you're doing the falls - it will turn into a full-day activity for yourself. We took a cab, it cost us $35 per person round trip. Then there is the $15 fee to enter the park. As such, if you're looking to do the tour "on your own" - plan to spend at least $50. In comparison to Ocho Rios, where the cab will only cost you like $10.

We dined at Chops, Giovanni's Table, Zumi and Solarium Bistro. All were very good, no complaints.

Happy to answer any questions -

Thanks for the info! I'm hoping you can answer a couple of questions I can't seem to find the answer to...

How long are the parades and festival activities each day at the Promenade and Boardwalk?

And how long is wthe Comedy Dive show?

I would say the parades are between 20 to 30 minutes...

Parades range in length depending on the night; generally speaking they are between 15 - 30 minutes long. The Parades towards the end of the cruise are a bit longer.

The comedy dive show is performed during the day time and no reservations are required. I'd recommend arriving at least 30 minutes prior to the performance to get good seats. The show is 1 hour long.

I thought Oasis is a prettier ship that Allure... the decor is a little more complete and I like the color scheme better. But Allure had all of the Dreamworks stuff finalized on it when it came out.

All in all - its a very subtle difference

I have been on both myself and found them about the same. I did like the Doghouse on the Allure.
I will be back on the Oasis in april 2012.

Well, they both do the same itinerary depending on which week you want to go (they both akternate between east and west caribbean). I think Oasis is a nicer looking ship - but Allure is a more complete ship. Allure already has Samba's grill, Ritas cantina, Dreamworks, etc. Oasis may have all of those things by the time you book - or maybe not.Either way, you will enjoy it.
