Default Allure of the Seas cruise...

Just returned from Allure yesterday, and all I can say is, WOW...What an absolutely wonderful cruise. The shows are outstanding and the crew and staff are top notch.

Will be putting together a review and uploading pics this week.

I was able to get a peek at Antonio, Selma and even J. Lo were onboard last Sunday for the premier of Puss N Boots, which was a really cute 3D movie comming out in a few weeks.

Always a "hot" topic, food onboard, we found to be excellent. I really took some time and looked at all that was offered throughout the ship. We ate most of our meals in the Windjammer Marketplace, just too many selections and great service. Had one dinner in the dinning room and it just took too long, so I ended up packing and taking way too many clothes that I didn't wear.

The entertainment is like nothing at sea, from regular great headline show to comedy shows, aqua/water/diving/trapoline, ice skating....All were amazing and worth seeing. Best to make your reservations before you leave. I had made two and had to wait to get in the others, but did get in every one..

Just sorry to have to return to work today...

Thank Donna,
There was a recent UK TV programme about different holiday types, Allure was one & it came across as something that looked like a fairground, crowded & very busy ..but programme makers tend to make things look how they want.

Very true John, there were certain areas that could get crowded at certain times, but all in all, with all those passengers onboard, wasn't a problem. There was never a time, even on "sea" days to find a lounge chair anywhere. I never saw chairs saved once. You do have to go to the pool deck and check out towels for the day, so I think that may have something to do with it, you will get charged $20 for a towel not returned....Abosolutely great cruise with lots to do..

I think the check in/out of towels may help, but to be honest on our last cruise it was SO crowded round the pools we didn't bother. In fact that is the one thing we dislike about cruises...we find it quite repulsive. We tried to book the private area with more room called ''the retreat" on Azura..fully booked before we got on...which you can't do..they say!

I've been on a few cruises, where the deck space on the pool decks are just too small for the number of passengers, was sure NOT the case on Allure...There were 4 pools to choose from, plus an only adult area that was really nice as well.

Welcome back Donna. Glad to hear you enjoyed your cruise. Always tough to head back to work after a cruise vacation, where you get spoiled rotten.

I was surprised to read that you had all but one meal at the buffet. Though that does seem to be a bit of a growing trend.

Donna. I felt the same as you on Allure, never felt crowded. Sometimes when getting off the ship or in Main dining room, other than these it did not feel cramped. It think more people r getting tired of the slow service in dining room. It seems not enough staff for the amount of guests they have to serve. Seems the staff can never keep up. Believe me when I say, the service is no quicker on day six than it is one day one or two. Glad u had a great time.

Donna, I'm happy that you enjoyed the Allure. I loved it myself and never felt crowded.
On april 14th. we will be sailing on her sister ship, the Oasis for the second time.

Manuel,
The cruise director was Ken Rush, one of the best IMHO. He was leaving Sunday too for his break, but when he returns it will be on Allure again.

I was impressed with Ken Rush when I saw him on the Allure.

I said hello to him and he said I ( you were on the Oasis last year ). Withall the people that sees, I don't know how he can remember a previous cruiser.

He his quite a character. I like the way he says ( before you go! )

I had Allan Brooks on Allure in Jan. I think he and Ken rotate.

OMG Manuel,
He did say that after every show, I thought it was because people were iterally leaving as he was talking....Too funny. He actually got thrown in the aqua pool after the belly flop contest, very funny!

Since I have sailed on the Oasis and the Allure, I did notice that people were really enjoying their cruise on those ships.

Donna, did you do the zip line?

Manuel,
Nope, didn't seem worth it, but watched it during lunch in the Windjammer...AFter doing a zip line in Jamaica, that was just too short, but still looked like fun.

This is sooooo helpful! I was a bit worried because of how large Allure is. I'm fine with large groups but my fiancee was not, so this was a topic of concern for me. So glad to hear that there's ample space!

So glad you had a great time. I'm looking forward to seeing your pics. My family and I are going on Allure May 27th and can't wait. Especially now that winter is finally settling in here in New England. You mentioned Ken Rush as the CD and another mentioned Allan Brooks. Do you know who the CD will be when I set sail on May 27th. I've had Allan Brooks as a CD back in 08 on Liberty OTS and thought he was awesome! Thanks

When I was on Allure, Ken was then going on his break, but returning to Allure afterwards. I think Brooks was just filling in for him.
