I only found out in this thread on post #18 that Pete (Cruise Planner) was a TA and that post wasn't by him!!
I have read his advice in a lot of other threads that I read and write on. And whilst he does give some great advice, the tag line is always to book with a TA.
I always book with a TA in the UK, but it's a lot different over here on how we book holidays (Vacations).
Just some friendly advice and answering a question directly on here is all that is being asked. Nothing to do with the pros and cons of using an agent. Thats peoples own opinion and choice. It shouldn't be the cut and paste answer for every post.
Back on topic, if you fancy the show, book it on the RCI website under manage my booking. You might find other things that you didn't think of booking in advance, like drink packages or special occasions in your stateroom.
And, Pete, suppose they don't have an agent to whom to ask their questions?? I am willing to bet that 80-90% of the people who post on Cruisemates do not have an old-fashioned travel agent; in fact, it is hard to find travel agencies anymore in any town. They are practically obsolete in this day and age of personal computers. You, my friend, are a rarity.
FYI, one industry source says more then 77% of all travel is booked through a travel agent and there are over 25,000 agents in the USA.

Pete, I am sure you are a wonderful TA, but I think you assume that all TAs provide the same service that you do. I know you believe fervently that a TA is the best option and that is why you point that out to every person who poses a question here.
But it does tend to take the conversation off track sometimes, as some of us, ( like me ) then feel compelled to offer up a differing opinion, rather than talk about the question at hand.
I know you find this hard to believe, but I have had excellent service from the big box and online cruise agencies I have used. AND, unbelievably, even from my "agent" at the cruise line when I have booked direct. Never, have I had any difficulty with them when it comes to getting the best price, cabin changes, upgrades and alerting me to options I would not otherwise have known about.
