Never give up hope for a price decrease!

The final payment for our cruise in January was October 31. I checked the prices the morning of the 30th, because my travel agent had mentioned that she would put the final payment through on the 31. The price when I checked was actually higher than when I booked.

For some strange reason I was up about 1:00AM on the 31st, and thought I would check the prices one more time. Much to my surprise they went down $310.00/couple for an outside room!!! WOW....Double and triped chedk the pricing and still came up with the decrease., Quickly sent an e-mail to my agent to check into it. She varified it, and sent out the final paperwork....$310.00 lower!

My suggestion is to never stop checking for a lower price....even on the last day. You never know.........

You're absolutely right - never stop checking the rates as they can change at any time. This is especially true if you see or hear of any specials or sales that are going on.

But your agent should have caught the lower rate because if they're any good, they will always check the going rate before they actually make the final payment just to make sure the price has not changed.

But even after final payment has been made, keep checking the rate. If the price goes down, notify your agent immediately. While most cruise lines now have policies whereby they won't honor the reduced rate with a price reduction on current bookings, occasionally they'll offer onboard credit or an upgrade. Of course sometimes this may also depend on the agent and their standing with the cruise line.

It's usually good prices around final booking as some people cancel and the line suddenly has extra cabins. Good time to find last minute deals the day after final payment would normally be due.
