We are going on the Explorer of the Seas this Thanksgiving and taking my DS, DIL and grandkids ages 7 and 14.
The 7 year old loves the children's programs and will spend some of his evenings there. My 14 year old grandaughter loves to dress up for dinner and would love to accompany us to the specialty restaurant. What is the minimum age for this restaurant?
The rule is nobody under age 13 is allowed after 7pm so your granddaughter will be good to go! They loosened up the rules a couple years ago, so even kids under 13 are allowed for seating times prior to 7pm, but it is on a case-by-case thing and those must be booked on the ship.
I was looking at the rules for Chops, which say they have to be reserved on the ship for kids under 13 and cannot be made online. Perhaps Portofino is different. Anyway, not to get into a big debate the bottom line is it isn't a problem to get kids into the specialty dining venues.
