Royal Caribbean Names Project Sunshine Ships
by Paul Motter The new ships coming in 2014 and 2015 will be named Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas Royal Caribbean just came forth with the new names for the next generation of Royal Caribbean ships; up to now code-named "Project Sunshine." But as of today the line has chosen names for these new ships and here they are:
In addition to naming the ships, Royal Caribbean also took a major step in beginning the construction of this next generation of ships for the cruise line; the first piece of steel was cut for the ship number one; Quantum of the Seas. This occurred in the shipyard where the ships will be built, the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. |
I do like Quantum, but, Anthem, not so much..they could have done better with that one...and, still of the seas...???

New RCCL Ships
Not especially thrilled with the names. More interested in what features the ships will have.

I disagree with you on this one - these are the first ship names I have liked in a long time.
They should have named Oasis "Quantum" - it is far more fitting for such a revolutionary ship. I also like "Anthem" - which signifies some type of signature song. I am also very tired of the "of the Seas" business. I suspect it has a lot to do with trademark, etc, but the problem is that it means we have to use the full name most of the time. |
I think that naming all the ships "... Of The Seas" is smart. Everybody knows right away you're talking about a Royal Caribbean ship. Looks very similar to Oasis & Allure I hope they have changes and that it's not too much like the other ships.
|
Actually, I need to clarify that the graphic is Oasis, someone had labeled is "Project Sunshine" online.
The question is whether or not Sunshine will look like a mini-Oasis, I would like to know. |

They have an image of a silhouette of the Quantum with executive signatures all over it. Not sure how accurate it is but it doesn't look exactly like the Oasis.

I hope in the near future we will learn more about this project ship, should be a winner....There is usually something new and exciting with their new builds, time will tell.

The silhouette image is provided on the RCI press site. There are no other images beyond this one and the one of the steel cutting.
