Default Farewell Monarch Of The Seas

Monarch Of The Seas embarks on her last voyage under Royal Caribbean colors today. When this cruise ends the ship will be transferred to Pullmantur in Spain, joining sister ship Sovereign Of The Seas.

This leaves the Majesty Of The Seas as the sole ship in the Sovereign class of RCI.

They were fine vessels in their day. My first Royal Caibbean cruise was on Majesty of the Seas, and she was brand new... Since that first Royal Caribbean cruise, they have been special to me and to this day, they are still my favorite cruiseline.

Donna,

Same here. Our first Royal Caribbean cruise was on Majesty OTS in June 1993. When it was over I remember thinking 'that was definitely the best cruise we've been on'. It was great and those were 'the' ships in the early 1990s. Beautiful ships. That one cruise has kept us as RCI fans for 20 years, now at the Diamond Plus level.

Hello all, it's been a while since I posted here or even visited. I have been on Sovereign once, and Monarch twice. Now it's going to be replaced by Enchantment, which I have also been on back when it was in Fort Lauderdale. This inexpensive cruise is my old standby, especially since I have to pay for 4 people now! Really makes it hard, but we are glad to be on this cruise (4th time) on a new larger boat. It will be our boy's (8) third cruise and our little girl's (3) first cruise. They are very excited. We are going late May. Tomorrow we are leaving for Orlando and Disney World!

Right now my father in law is boarding the Monarch, and complaining of being charged more than he agreed on?!?! I'm trying to figure out what's going on. Hopefully it's not the dreaded fuel surcharge. Have they done that at all yet?

There is not fuel surcharge being assessed. Perhaps your father-in-law is complaining about the new automatic tipping on Royal Caribbean? Effective March 1 they have started putting $12 per person/per day on the onboard account.

Yeah, I was thinking that, You gotta pay it anyway, maybe they're just not explaining it right. It's not his first cruise, so he should know. Oh well, hope he gets over it. Like was mentioned in another post. Sometimes people don't tip for kids who never sit at the formal table, and this would eliminate that savings for those customers.

So sad to say good bye to an 'ol friend. Our very first cruise was on her in '97 when she was in San Juan. All totaled we've sailed on the Monarch four times. Alot of good memories.

I remember when GMA had their show at PE..and the Sovreign sailed by on their maiden voyage. It was a big deal! These ships were the Queens of the sea, back in the day. My first cruise as well, was on the Majesty, and I sailed her again, I loved her so much..no one does an atrium like RCI.

Remember when the Monarch hit the sandbar in St Maarten? I am sad to see the end of this era of great ships, tiney cabins and all!

My last cruise on this class of ship was on Sovereign a few weeks before she left the fleet. I purposely booked an inside cabin and it was my first time in one. On our previous cruises on this class of ship we had Bridge Deck balcony cabins. Anyway, yes it was VERY small but still quite a functional cabin that would have been good for two people for up to 7 days. I will say though, that anyone who had one of the quads was really pushing things. Putting four people in 119 square feet was insane.

Both Sovereign and Monarch were indeed class acts. My first cruise was on the Sovereign and is has always been my favorite.

31 days left before I cruise on Enchantment on this 3 day cruise. My kids are chomping at the bit and I admit, I am too. Anybody know what part of the ship was expanded? I was on her long ago before the refurbishment when she was in Ft. Lauderdale.

That's funny Majesty OTS was my second cruise back in 2000 and we didn't like it at all. Food was bad and the ship was just boring, it's why we never sailed on RC after that.
We are going to book Allure for Feb 2015 as soon as date are open and we are very excited to give it another try. We're ready for a change and I think Allure will fit the bill!

Aerogirl, I believe it's a solid win for booking Allure; there is so much to see and do on that ship; you can make the ship your vacation; and never get off it; I think you will be pleased with the difference a few years can make. Now there will be lot's of people; although when we sailed there were about 5400; only time it seemed crowded was at a few events; otherwise the ship is broken into different neighborhoods; so that disperses the crowd quite well.

FOUR MORE DAYS till I'm gone on Enchantment. Gonna miss the Monarch which I knew like the back of my hand. We are 4 people in a quad, but I think it's 136 sf. We have an ADA accessible room so I think there might be a hair more turning space in the room and bathroom. I also just realized that we might get an early debarking time due to the room type. It was just the available room on the deck I wanted, so we took it!
