Quantum "Rumored" first cruises

I read in another blog that Quantum will leave Southampton November 2nd 2014 for the transatlantic trip to Bayonne. It will be 8 nights arriving in Bayonne on November 10th.

The "shakedown" cruise or cruises will be on/after November 18th and looks like the first couple cruises may be to the Bahamas. :-(

Nov 23 2014 - 08 day - Bahamas
Dec 01 2014 - 11 days - Southern Caribbean
Dec 12 2014 - 08 days - Bahamas
Dec 20 2014 - 07 days - Bahamas
Dec 27 2014 - 07 days - Bahamas
Jan 03 2015 - 08 days - Eastern Caribbean
Jan 11 2015 - 12 days - Southern Caribbean

Just found this...

The first cruise from Bayonne is scheduled for November 18th, a 3-night cruise listed as sailing to the Bahamas. But the Bahamas is not accessible from Bayonne in 3 days. Perhaps it is a shakedown/promo cruise to nowhere? It's followed by a 2 day cruise to the Bahamas???? Or the shakedown cruise could be during the 8 days after it arrives? Hard to tell what RCI has planned for the first couple weeks after it arrives in NJ.

The first steel block, which will be used to construct Quantum of the Seas has arrived at the shipyard in Germany.

beachbum 13, where did you find the information on the sail dates for the Quantum OTS. I'd like to take a closer look at the Itinerary. Some of those dates look very good to me.

thecruisequeen May 14th, 2013 05:14 PM

The Dec. 1st 11 night South Caribbean sailing looks interesting!!! :D:mrgreen::-P

Jan. 3rd and 11th look good too8-)

ship2shore May 15th, 2013 03:10 AM

That steel block does NOT look seaworthy to me.

seadog2 May 15th, 2013 11:09 AM

CQ, I agree. The Dec.1st and Dec.12th both look good to me. I'll have to make a decision on which one to book. It's going to be one of those two.

All I have is that chart. I'm hoping they release some "official" itineraries soon.

With prices!! :?:

I would drive out for the Jan 11 sailing (we usually cruise in January)
I bet the pricing for the first year is gonna be nutzo and Im afraid to even ask.

beachbum13 May 18th, 2013 02:50 PM

Breakaway is getting between $2,600 & $3,000 for balcony cabins on 14 day cruise. I'm thinking $2,500 for Quantum 11 & 12 day cruises. That's a lot of money....

Manuel May 18th, 2013 03:49 PM

It may be a lot of money but it will worth sailing on a ship of such magnitude.

$10k for a family of 4? No freaking way.
I will wait for the fares to fall back to (my) reality.

beachbum13 May 21st, 2013 12:28 PM

I was hoping that they would release the rates before Tuesday when they start taking reservations!

thecruisequeen May 21st, 2013 03:22 PM

I hope I don't pass out from shock when I see Quantum's rates!!! :oops::-|:-o:-o:-o

AF1 May 22nd, 2013 01:43 PM

So what is the going rate for the 11 day cruise?

thecruisequeen May 22nd, 2013 05:33 PM

I'm going to take a wild guess and say 11 night insides will start at $1499.

I may look into the 7 night Bahamas route if the 11 nighter is priced too high. I hate the Bahamas route but then again it's the Quantum so would stay on the ship the whole week no reason to get off. :p:-P

Unless youre a first time cruiser who wants to go to the Bahamas with no Caribbean stops? First timers generally wont spend this type of money. Plus sailing out of Bayonne isn't all that great either. The 11 nighters to the Carib look nice but will be quite pricey. I guess the bosses figured Florida cant fill this ship with Oasis and Allure there. I bet within a couple of years this ship is redeployed to another port.

thecruisequeen May 23rd, 2013 01:34 PM

There are many Europeans on Royal ships so I'm sure there will be plenty on the Quantum...not to mention how awesome to do a pre or post stay in the big Apple... The rates on Quantum will be high but I'm going to guess it will sail full or close to full on many sailings.

Explorer does well out of Bayonne and I have a feeling so will Quantum. New York/New Jersey ships are many times priced higher then those out of FL.

It was time for Royal to bring in a new ship to cruise out of Bayonne especially now with Breakaway there. I going to guess that Quantum will be in Bayonne for a long time.

There are many people who live in the Northeast. For them it will be easier and cheaper to sail from NY/NJ than to fly somewhere.

Also, New York City attracts people from all over the world and many of those people will enjoy a cruise as part of their vacation.

RCI is countering NCL's Breakaway. It's easy to fly to NYC from anywhere! Quantum will kick butt!!! Well if they cruise to Caribbean! Bahamas from NYC is a horrible cruise. No appeal for me.

felix_the_cat May 24th, 2013 02:47 PM

I have a list of clients who want to book the inaugural. They won't give us the pricing until opening on Tuesday. That is really going to be hard as trying to go back and forth with clients who want to know prices first is really going to be difficult. I don't know why RCL felt the need to hold out until booking.

I Agree :cool::twisted::twisted::p:D

beachbum13 May 25th, 2013 01:36 PM

I don't understand what the big deal is ??? Release the prices !!!! I don't get it??? I'll be working and won't have time to figure out which cruise I can afford and want to take. On this point I'm really disappointed in Royal Caribbean!!!

AF1 May 28th, 2013 11:06 AM

I am sure Royal Caribbean has done its homework and expect this ship will do well in the NJ area. Someone here mentioned the northeastern people can drive to this port, thus saving airfare to Florida. NCL has their new ship here, so Royal is going to make sure not everyone sails Breakaway. Well they will sail Breakaway until Quantum shows up

felix_the_cat May 28th, 2013 12:06 PM

I was able to book several clients this morning. The inaugural is selling well. No suites left right now.

beachbum13 May 28th, 2013 12:09 PM

I booked the first E Caribbean cruise. 12/1/14
