No cause has been announced. RCI just announced the loss of Grandeur for 6 weeks will cost them $22 million in earnings.
There also seems to be some scurrying around regarding the compensation confusion they have posted. Some media outlets are saying those on the 5/31 cruise still get 50% off a future cruise and only the other five cruise cancellations get 25%. One person of Facebook says he already received his 50% off certificate for the 5/31 cruise.
The Grandeur was moved this afternoon from the cruise pier to the shipyard by tugboat.
As we've seen from the photos, while the fire area was an industrial section of the ship and not accessible by passengers, the damage extended to the South Pacific Lounge where 4 windows were either deliberately smashed as part of the firefighting effort (to put water on the blaze from above) or they failed due to heat. There was also fire damage in this lounge and smoke and water damage to several cabins in the aft part of the ship. I've also read reports that a 'dining area' was damaged. This likely is either the aft portion of the main dining room on deck 4, or the Chefs Table extra-fee venue which is in a wing off the side of the MDR, also on deck 4.
