Default Cruise booked

Well, booked a cruise today for March,2014. I am somewhat nervous! We always cruise with Celebrity or Princess. Our first cruise was in the 80's with Royal Caribbean and wasn't all that impressed. Stopped cruising for years, then started again around 2002' and fell in love with cruising. We do not want to fly any more unless an emergency. We live in Ct. so leaving from NY or NJ is the way to go. Next year, only RCI or Norweigan sails from these ports and I didn't want to go with Norweigan. So, sailing on the Explorer of the Seas. Any positive feedback?
Thanks
Marguerite

I'm surprised your agent didn't provide you this information, but depending on when and where you want to go as well as what you like, Carnival, Princess, Celebrity, and Holland America also go out of the NYC area.

As for the Explorer, we've been on it plus many other RCCL ships, including 2 other Voyager-class ships.

Personally, while I agree they are not quite up to Princess, they are still very nice. I think there are others coming out of the area that are also nicer than the Explorer - for example, the new Quantum of the Seas will be sailing out of Bayonne. Can't wait for that ship!

But you might also want to give NCL's new ship, the Breakaway, a look. It might surprise you.

I do know about those other ships leaving from that area, but not sailing where we wanted to go. I only know a couple of people who did Norweigan and didn't care for it. This will be our 10th cruise, so knew what we wanted and read a lot of reviews about the EOS, most were favorable, so decided to give it a try. The Quantum looks awesome, something to look forward to in 2015! Thanks for the reply.

I have talked to 2 people who have sailed on Breakaway and they were not impressed for the money. I was suppose to sail on Explorer is March but we changed our reservation to the 11 day Caribbean cruise on Quantum. Then I got the bug and booked a Celebrity cruise this year.

Celebrity is our favorite, The Solstice and Silouette. But, really do not want to fly so, our decision had to be RCI, plus it's for 10 nights. I am sure it will be a wonderful cruise!
