Exclamation Alaska cruise tours

When you take a cruisetour on RCCL to Alaska are the meals provided on the land portion of the trip or just when you finally get on the ship?

I'm really surprised your agent wasn't able to answer your questions about an Alaskan cruise tour!

On the land portion of a cruise tour, your food is NOT included, except on those very few instances as will be noted in the details. For example, your tour may include a special dinner show, or perhaps something like a riverboat tour where food would be included. If you do a Denali tour, you may get a box lunch, which is a complete joke.

Unlike some cruise lines, RCCL does not offer an optional 'food plan' for purchase during the land portion. But even if they did, I do not recommend this. Reason being is that for the most part it's not a good deal, plus it limits you as to where you can eat. And that would be a shame because there are some absolutely wonderful and unique places to eat during the land tours that you would miss out on if you got the food plan. So make sure to take along some cash along with your debit/credit card and enjoy some of the awesome local cuisine!

With all that said, have you considered other cruise lines for your Alaskan cruisetour? Depending on your age and lifestyle, for the price and options, there are definitely some better ones from which to choose.

Keep in mind that RCCL owns their lodge in Talkeetna - they only lease space in 3 places in Denali that they do not own. Princess and Holland America are the only ones who actually own their own lodges in Denali. And Holland America is the only cruise line that owns all of the hotels and lodges they stay at everywhere in the Yukon and Alaska.

There are a huge number of Alaskan cruisetours available so do your homework, ask alot of questions, and work with an agent who's familiar with them so they can help you find the perfect vacation.

It truly is a magnificent place to visit and everyone has to do it at least once in their life.

Thanks for the reply. We do have an agent who we use all the time. We started thinking of this Friday evening and she is off until Monday when we talk to her. We will do RCCL as that is what we like and since we are Diamond + we like the cruise benifits we receive. Would not get all the free things with the other lines as we have not sailed enough. You will not find anyone who does more homework then me. Being retired, I have all the time in the world to do research.
