Anthem of the Seas - Steel cutting
Just before the keel-laying ceremony for Quantum of the Seas, sister ship Anthem of the Seas had her first steel-cutting at the Meyer Werft laser centre.

Adam Goldstein, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean commented "Today is a very special day in the development of our new Quantum class, as we are now two steps closer to delighting guests around the world with Quantum cruising. It's incredibly rewarding to see Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas coming together well, and today we not only honor those two very important milestones, but we also regonize the years of hard work and dedication from the team developing these ships."

Anthem of the Seas' delvery date is scheduled for spring 2015.

Also today -

Royal Caribbean and Meyer Weft helped celebrate the keel-laying of their brand new 167,800GT vessel, Quantum of the Seas.

Royal Caribbean's Executive Vice President Maritime, Harri Kulovaara, put down the lucky penny, a maritime tradition, before the block was lowered into place.

Quantum of the Seas will comprise of 74 giant blocks. The first block weighs in at 430 tons.

The keel-laying ceremony marks the official start of construction for the Quantum of the Seas. She will be the biggest ship ever to be constructed at the yard.

Quantum of the Seas will launch in November 2014 accommodating 4,180 guests.

Yes, I agree that Royal is great.

As a matter of fact I do need to book a Royal cruise soon.
