Default Allure Europe Prices...OUCH

They became available to past guests today. Holy smokes. A little more than I expected since they're going head to head with Epic on the same itinerary. September, 7 day Barcelona return.. D8 balcony $1,979. For 7 days - I don't think so! I realize she's a very unique ship but no way I'd pay that for 7 days.

To get the best you are going to pay a little more.

Ah, but how to define the best. With only 1 sea day there's not that much time to enjoy all that she offers and her ports are pretty run of the mill. I think we'll be passing for more unique ports of call.

$1,979. for a balcony per person right? Sounds about right. You may want to look into NCL Epic or Jade for cheaper rates. Also I saw some good rates with MSC. Royal's Splendor has a 6 nighter to Greece/Turkey/Croatia for $699. in July. Also the fall rates are better then the summer rates.

The European routes are port intense and tiring so not much time onboard to really enjoy the ship.

With the Caribbean routes Allure gives you 3 full seas days....well worth the rates even if it's higher then other ships. Allure and Oasis are one of a kind that no other ships can compare to.

The $1,979 pp was for Late September. I would understand it more if it were a summer rate. I don't want to travel the med. in the summer. P & O's Britannia is now our leading contender but we'll see what Princess and Celebrity release before booking her. No way in hell I'd pay $4,000 on an RCL ship for 7 days.

The 4,000 is for a balcony however the fall rate on Allure doing an inside is $2,469. for two. That is a big difference. But that is if a cruiser is willing to do an inside.
And the Epic for two is $2,486. WITH a balcony.
Allure and Epic itinerary are similar and awesome!

I'm liking MSC rates however alot of the summer sailings are already sold out.

Good luck with your search!

This is why for Europe, I much prefer Holland America - tough to beat their prices compared to others versus what you get for the money.

The Allure's prices are high because it's the 'novelty' of the ship that's drawing the crowds, which drives the price.

Personally, when doing a cruise with alot of ports, it's not as much about the ship or the type of cabin as it is about the itinerary. I'd much rather save my money, go for the best deal, and get an inside cabin, so I can spend on the excursions and sightseeing, which is why I'm there in the first place. If I'm going for the ship, then the ports aren't as important, so then I'll just look for the cheapest prices they're offering on that ship and won't care that much about the itinerary.

Allure would be one of my last choices for a port intensive itinerary. You really can't enjoy the ship when you have a port a day. Especially if they are worthwhile ports like Europe or Asia.

The best ship we ever sailed Europe in was Azamara Journey. Perfect size and just the right amount of amenities and activities for the port intensive itinerary.

Statendam was also a good ship for our Asian cruise. She was a little old but still in good shape. Millennium, on our Southeast Asia cruise, on the other hand, may have been an O.K. size but the ship, service and staff needed some work.

Take care
Mike

For anybody to think on these port intensive itineraries, that one can enjoy any ship, like they would on a longer cruise or say, in the Caribbean is just not true.

The excursions can run 10 hours....up early, gone all day, and then back on the ship, to get ready to eat, and maybe, if you can keep your eyes open, some entertainment. On a sea day, trying to do it all, is tiring as well.

Because of this, I would go for the best deal possible, and, if you want a particular ship, to enjoy it all, do it in the Caribbean. I loved my Med cruise, for where it took me, and, less for the ship that took me,

I agree with Trip. If u are going to sail in Europe get the most bang for your buck. Don't worry about what ship your on since u will be in port most days.

So you are paying 1,150 per week on Allure in September is a bit high but normal. I'm paying 2,250 each for 14 days on Anthem in July 2015 (peak time), so sounds fair when compared. I have looked at others in the area and for 10 days I would be paying slightly more and then need to fly out to meet the ship, so more costly.
The joy with 14 days is that I'm getting 5 days to enjoy the ship (and what a ship she is). Because the med offers so much, the cruises will involve more ports than normal cruises you might be used to. There is so much to see and do on Allure and Oasis that it will be all go for you. But you won't see these ships in Europe for another 5 years. A little extra for an exclusive experience = worth it.
