Drink packages

Trying to figure out if it is actually worth it to buy the premium drink package. At $55 a day I guess you would have to drink almost seven drinks a day at an average of $8 a drink. If I'm on the island from 8-4 daily, am I going to drink seven drinks from 5 to midnight. Wondering if anyone hS any input. Was it worth it for you.

I am an occasional drinker, and would, I think, find it hard to drink my daily quota...it sounds good at first, but I think many people would not want to leave any unused drinks on the table so to speak....

While a bit costlier, I would prefer to buy one, when I really want one, not feel the need to drink all I bought for that day. Jmho:)

Personally, I don't drink enough to make it worth it to buy a drink package, so have never done it.
However, having traveled with a teenager in the past, buying the SOFT drink package was worth it's weight in gold for the amount that he drank!

I would never do the drink package just because I would be overpaying since I can only do 2 or 3 drinks per day.

But for those cruisers than can drink then it is sure worth it.

I got the $55 per day package for my upcoming cruise next week. I was able to prepay it and that was nice, so there will not be much of a bill at the end of the cruise for us to pay.

I do believe that I will drink enough to cover the charges. I normally have to limit myself or face a hefty bill at the end of the cruise, now I wont have to!

Believe me, I love my Grey Goose martini's starting at 5 and wine with dinner but I don't think I could drink that much. Travel companion doesn't drink much at all. The only question is that I thought you had to purchase the package for "each" guest in your cabin??? Did that change

Atccruiser February 17th, 2014 05:21 PM

Yes that has changed. You no longer need to have both occupants get the package.

We just got back from a cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette and we had the drink package as a comp. What we found with the drink package was we went out more at night because we wanted to "get out monies worth". Also with the drink package we used it for waters and smoothies at the Aqua Spa Cafe in the mornings. I think we will get it again. One less thing to have on your room charge if you pre pay.

When we were waiting to disembark we heard a couple of guys saying they had drank 140 beers! They must have spent the whole cruise at the bar and in the bathroom!

How much are the various drink packages???

Good to know, thanks!

last cruise and this one, it states that both guests in our cabin have to have the same package. So not sure where you are getting this info from.

I saw that's currently the case with Carnival, but it doesn't appear to be that way with my upcoming Royal Caribbean cruise.

The RCI website FAQ on drink packages says the following: Question: Does everyone in my stateroom need to buy a beverage package? Answer: No, packages can be purchased by individual guests. Cannot be shared by multiple people. Also, a press release I received last fall stated they were dropping the 'all or none' policy on buying packages.

That reminds me of the young guy that was in line in front of me at the Guest Services desk.... his friend came by and asked him why he was there. He said he wanted to question the amount on his account. He said he knew he had drunk a lot - the friend asked Well how much is your bill?
He said $1200 ( this was on Wednesday,4th day of the cruise) but when he got to the counter and checked , he didn't find any errors!

Back from our cruise and I can say that I really liked having the drink package! Nice not to have to keep signing receipts and stuffing them in ur pocket.

Did I get my moneys worth? probably not but I feel it was worthwhile anyways.
