Default Still My Favorite!!!!

Just got back from a 7 day cruise on Celebrity Silhouette. It was a great cruise and I have very little bad to say about it. But RCCI and Oasis remain my favorites!!! <3

From the beach in Ft Lauderdale - Oasis as it left Port Everglades on 2/8/14. Even though we were sailing on Silhouette the next day I was a little sad to see her leave without us! I hope they add some new ports for her and Allure soon!!!

I have to agree that for amenities, it's tough to beat the Oasis-class ships, especially for families!

But for my personal tastes, I think I've found the perfect ship in the Solstice-class ships of the Celebrity fleet! Then again, I'm old and enjoy the sedate upscale environment they offer.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise on the Silhouette - can't wait to go on another one of their new ships.

BEAUTIFUL SHIP!!! The main band was the Smart Casuals from England. They were VERY good. They played a variety of music. There was a jazz band from Argentina that was also very good. The singer Cannon Cox was a solo performer who was just ok. Seemed like he didn't know many songs cuz every time we saw him he played the same songs. Also on board was an acoustic trio that we never saw.

The comedy shows were very good. The Sin City Comedy Show night with Mike Pace was hilarious!!! We went three times cuz he changed his routine every. I think some of the older crowd found some of his routine a bit to risqué. But they pretty much tell you that up front.

In general we were disappointed The ship seem to go a sleep at 11 PM. One night they had a New Years Eve party. Right after midnight the crew that was helping set the mood left and there was less than 10 people left. Nobody was dancing because it was pretty much a 50 yr+ crowd. Several time we requested song to break up the techno/dance. Each time we requested something different several of the people got up and danced with us. When we requested Could You Be Loved By Bob Marley every person was up dancing! As soon as the song was over back to the drum machine driven techno/dance crap and the floor was empty. I don't get it? Why not play what people want to hear??? We walked by the last night at sea hoping for something but there was not one single person in the club! NOT ONE!!!

The food was great! My girlfriend is gluten free and while she was not as pampered as she was on the Oasis she still had plenty of choices. She loved the Aqua Spa Café! Lot's of healthy (gluten free) choices. We ate breakfast there every morning.

Enjoying New Years Eve (In Feb) in an empty club....

Canopies were delivered to our room late every afternoon. Add a couple cocktails and it was our own private happy hour on our balcony!

I will try and add more photos later in the Celebrity section.

Welcome back,
I know exactly what you experience with Royal Caribbean. I love to try other ships, but find myself always comparing them to Royal...Still my all time favorite as well. Pete pretty much summed it up, it is very difficult to have a ship like Oasis or Allure of the Seas and then go on another ship, it is just not the same or even close.

I hear what you're saying about rolling up the sidewalks at 11:00pm! That's definitely one of those love/hate things about Celebrity & Holland America. If you're into partying with a bunch of people late at night, you'll hate these two cruise lines. But if you love good food and nice ships, they're tough to beat.

Beachbum nice picture of the two of you!! and the two drinks too!
I hear ya the one Celebrity cruise it was lights out at 10pm. Not much going on after 10. Food and service top notch.....

I hate when DJ's play what THEY want to play and don't cater to the audience. Especially when requests are made.

Sounds like you had a great cruise even though the evenings activities were on the quiet side.

Or maybe Royal has us all spoiled when we try another cruiseline we pickup on the differences right away.

I have been on Carnival twice, but I won't make that mistake again. I love the Freedom and Oasis class ships but you can't beat Celebrity for Excellent service.
