Debarkation Day Excursions??

Hello my fellow Cruisemates!! Anyone ever do a Debarkation Day Excursion?

I have an end of cruise flight at 5:30pm and no way will be sitting at the airport for hours so looked into some excursions that Royal offers and I found 2 that look interesting....

1. Sawgrass Mills Mall Express

2. City Sight Seeing greater Miami

Has anyone done these or perhaps recommend something else to do. The only problem with doing something on my own is what to do with the luggage?

Thanks!!

Your luggage will be on the same excursion bus, at the end of the tour, they will drop you at the airport...

Thanks Donna.....I meant if I did something on my own I'm stuck with the luggage. The excursions the luggage is taken care of and the excursion ends at the airport. :)

One thing to check on, see if your airline has an area by the ship where you can check-in and also check luggage, usually a small fee, but so worth it.

On one of our cruises we had a long wait so we took shuttle to the airport and rented a car then went to the beach. In hindsight we could have just taken a couple of taxi's. But then we would have had lugagge on the beach.

Thanks BeachBum....a car rental can be another option!

Just got off the phone with Royal and they explained the Luggage Valet program. It's $20.00 per person you put out your luggage the night before they transport it to the holding area of your airline. Once you arrive in the airport you go to the holding area claim your luggage and check in for your flight. This is a nice option to be luggage free and have the day in Fort Lauderdale. Now I need to decide if I want to go shopping, spend time on the beach or go to the Hard Rock hotel Casino...8-)

And while on the phone they reviewed my account and found an error that one of my earlier cruise from the 90's was not added into the points. They went ahead and fixed it which brought my points up.

So now I shall turn Diamond Plus on my Birthday on Incredible Independence Of The Seas....SWEET!!!:rolleyes:8-):-P:cool::mrgreen:8-)

I would love to do either of these options...Sawgrass is farther away from Miami, and is a so called "outlet mall" I have been several times and there is lots of good things to buy...trouble is then, if you do buy, packing can be an issue..

I vote for the tour of Miami...they might take you through the deco district, which I adore...or Viscaya, John Deering's glorious mansion..possibly Parrot Jungle or an Everglades tour....a mini vacation an a few hours...:)

The airport in Miami does have luggage storage area on level 2 of Central Terminal E, if that helps....

Thanks for your help and advice everyone!!

I'm cruising out of FLL and Flying out of FLL also.

Trip I'm leaning towards doing the Sightseeing tour it does take you through the Deco District. You are right about shopping I would have to pack my purchases once I get to the airport plus worry about the 50pound limit. Put a gal in a mall for a few hours there WILL be purchases....:mrgreen:LOL:twisted:

Matelot According to Royal all the airlines have a luggage storage area and most not all are available through the Luggage Valet program with Royal. Still a wonderful program for those looking to spend a few hours on their own without carrying luggage around and not having to rent a car. :)

TM it sure will!!:-P
