I sailed on Splendour before she was upgraded and my wife and I loved her. The crew was wonderful, food was perfect; and the itinerary was awesome. Venice-Dubrovnik, Kudeashi, Cofru, Venice. I imagine it's still a great ship and with the upgrade even better. They added movie screen by the pool, added some extra dining facilities; and a few others; I would sail her again.
We've sailed alot on the Vision-class ships totaling 57 nights including 14-nights on the Splendor doing the Greek Islands out of Venice.
The ships are small, but nice. Food and crew will depend on the particular ship and sail date as they are always changing. We once went on the Grandeur (another Vision-class ship) and did not have a good experience at all. Food was not that great and ship was in dire need of refurbishment. We went on her again after it had gone through drydock and it was a completely different experience. Ship looked alot nicer, crew had been changed out, and the food was much better. Then we went on her again several years later after it had gone through a complete renovation and while the ship was even nicer yet, the food had gone downhill and what really surprised us was they didn't replace the mattresses! Ours was concave and not comfortable at all.
But as with any ship, it's often what you make it. And doing the Greek Isles is more about the ports than it is about the ship.
In all honesty, while we enjoyed the ship and especially the ports, the food was only so-so and we would have preferred something a bit more upscale like Celebrity or Holland America. Then again, we're seniors and we like those cruise lines better anyway.
