Default flights currently too expensive

Hi all,

Any advice on booking a flight? We cruising from FLL. We have flown there several times. We have flown there to cruise out of Miami. We have gone in March two other times before. My problem is that it is just too expensive. I have usually paid up to $300.00 or less in the past. These flights are $661-1000 per person. I have checked different airports in the vicinity but am not seeing any thing cheaper. Has anyone left in mid March recently and found that the prices go down at some point?? Southwest has not opened travel for this time but my experience is when they open they are close to the going rate as other airlines. I have been watching prices and they have gone up $100 in the last two weeks or so. Very depressing.

Too far to drive, so that is not an option.

Thanks,

Linda A

I think I would just keep checking, you have until March. I've notice the prices change daily and sometimes a few times in one day. As soon as you find a price that you can live with, book it....Good luck and hope something opens up.... These days, the air fare is almost more than the cruise.

Do a search for regional airlines like Allegiant, and find the airport they (and airlines like them) fly out of closest to you... We drive an hour to Plattsburgh NY, and save close to a thousand $$$ for a family of 4, compared to flights out of Buffalo. Worth the drive, and the flights are almost always direct.

You should have your agent check on the price of air through the cruise line.

Cruise Air was outrageously high for some time. But of late they have taken more interest once again, of being competitive.

Best time to book a flight is 162 days before you fly.

Our last cruise out of Miami, flights to West Palm Beach were much less expensive than flights into Miami and FLL. (Saved us several hundred dollars)

We rented a car and drove, but we were going to rent one anyway and spend a couple of days in Florida pre-cruise.

It looks like the tri-rail would've been another option to get from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale. If you don't mind a little adventure, it could save some $$.
