There is plenty of time for more people to join our group.

I hope that they do.

It's still on our 'maybe' list. We sold our house and will be going to closing on June 5th and moving to Florida on June 8th. We're going to rent a house in the Cape Coral area for about a month while we get to know the Sarasota to Naples corridor to see if there's anywhere we really like. If so, then we'll start to look at houses to buy or land to build. If we don't find anyplace we like in that area, then we're going to rent a house in the Brooksville area (north of Tampa) and check it out. So everything depends on where we decide we want to live, whether we're going to buy an existing house or build a new house, and the timetable involved with all these decisions. All we know is that we're not going to be in a hurry as we hope this will be our last house, so we want to find the best place for us. In other words, we have no idea where we'll be or what we'll be doing!

We've been on the Allure and to be honest, we have no real desire to go on it again. However, we would like to do just so we could spend some time with a bunch of great people.

We'll just have to wait and see what's in store for us as we begin the next big adventure in our lives.

Pete

Pete, I do hope that you can join us on this cruise.

I have sailed on the Allure before but I do have a strong desire to sail on her again.

TM

PS I wish you good luck on your move to Florida. My DW and I are very happy that we made our move.

Good friends of ours who are also neighbors were snowbirds this winter in Fla for the first time. They loved it so much that they are thinking of relocating permanently in 2017.

Yeah, it's an exciting time, but sad at the same time as we'll be leaving our 2-year old grandson behind and that'll be really tough.

We've lived in the DC area (Nancy and our oldest son were actually born in DC) for 47 years, so it's home for us. It's just gotten too crowded and too expensive to live here. Once we move to Florida, we won't have a mortgage, so life will be much easier for us, we can spend more time on the business, and do more traveling. And that's what we're really looking forward to - that along with play alot more golf!

We're excited to get started and begin the search. (As with a vacation, half the fun is in the planning.)

Pete, good luck to you and your wife. I know the move is tough; especially with grandkids involved. I lived in DC area for over 20 years. I was stationed at Andrews AFB for over 20 years; so my kids both grew up in the area. Our son still lives in Springfield. We moved to Ohio; where my wife is from. We do not miss the congestion, traffic, or high prices. We go a pay raise when we moved to Ohio. Especially on auto insurance.

Very familiar with Andrews AFB! Lived in Clinton for 13 years and then moved to Camp Springs for another 9 years. In fact, met my future wife in Junior High School there and we graduated from Crossland where most of the kids were Air Force brats! (We did move back to Clinton for about a year when we had our first child.) That entire area has changed immensely and you would not even recognize it, let alone want to go back there.

But I hear what you're saying about traffic and congestion! Definitely won't miss that, for sure!

This is one place where you really can't retire. Too expensive. I retired 9 years ago, but still have to referee about 280 ice hockey games a year to help pay the mortgage. When we move to Florida, we have enough equity to pay cash and won't have any mortgage, so after 32 years of reffing hockey, I finally get to hang up the skates. Then maybe I can play some golf!

Wow, you have spent a lot of time in DC area. We go back a few times a year to see our sons kids; so we put up with traffic for a few days; but once we get on 68/70 the traffic goes away; by the time we hit Frederick it slows down. Good luck in Florida. My parents spent 42 years in Clearwater; so I am familiar with that area; and my brother was in Palm Beach for 22 years. I like west coast better; actually love the Ft. Walton Beach area.

Pete, with all the money that you will be saving by moving to Florida, you can afford to join us on the Allure.

Yeah, but we do have to rent a furnished house (or two or three) until we either find an existing house or land to build. Plus, we have to pay for storage on our household goods. So, I don't see us saving any money for a while.

Well, we really want to, but alas, there are so many unknowns at this time, we just can't make a commitment for at least another 3 or 4 months. We'll see how it goes.

Ok, to be honest I didn't think it was something you really wanted to do and for you , you have so many things going on its pretty hard to commit.
It would be a welcome suprize if you do make it.

I've invited about twenty friends and family and so far just the two are joining in. I do stand by what I said, generally if some one what's to do something they make it happen.

Robin, I agree with you completely.

I have mentioned going a cruise to friends and family members and they all have excuses. These are people who have the money but not the desire to go on a vacation.
Those of us who are going will have an awsome time. I am going to make time to chat a bit with all the Gang people.

Great news! Ray is very nice gentleman. We have had dinner with him on two occasions and have been to his house. We are certainly looking forward to seeing him again.

Pete, I also thank you for the info.

I hope that all the changes are for the better. Because I loved the Allure the way it was when it first came out.

The '' Last Gang '' cruise is going to be a special event as far as I am concerned.

Great News!

Cruwsie and her husband ( Donna and Wayne ) will be joining us on this cruise.

WE have had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful couple from Canada and it makes us happy that they have decided to join our little group on the Allure.

Only 240 days to go ⚓️⚓️
I'm thinking we need to think plan on having dinner together one evening. I know everyone has their favorite time to dine so we'll have to look and throw a few days with times out there and see what one we can decide on. I do know we're doing at least on specialty restaurant , probably Chops. I'm good with eating early for whatever day we choose.
