Seabourn Odyssey

How is the new ship coming along? Will it create competition with the triplets (perhaps better pricing and destinations)? The new ship is particularly interesting for those of us who may have stayed away from Seabourn in the past due to lack of balconies and the age of the ships.

The reports I have heard on have been really pretty good, so I think its a pretty good.

Purrs, are you aware of any other differences on the Odyssey compared to their other ships? I was wondering what the new attraction would be, apart from it obviously being a newer ship!

Paul Motter March 23rd, 2010 01:45 PM

The newer ships have more dining venues and are obviously more modern in decor. Anytime you have a somewhat larger ship you are less like to run into service glitches.

For example - on a ship with 200 passengers you might find the room service staff is asleep at 2:00 a.m. - or ta least understaffed, but on a bigger ship they know there is a bigger chance of getting a call.

You will find a bigger spa with more offerings, a larger swimming pool and hot tubs, etc. But the biggest difference is the variety of dining options.

I just want to say hello to Iamboatman! It is great to see a new face here.

Iamboatman December 2nd, 2010 12:51 PM

Thanks!

I predict you will over-achieve on all 3 counts!

GrannyLorr December 2nd, 2010 05:38 PM

Us "Junior Members" will just have to be non controversial eh diebroke? ;)

Good point Granny. I am trying to be on my best behavior on this board, at least until I am no longer a junior member & a beginner. I have heard of people who were banned for life from other boards.

Did I see a dress code thread on this board that had only 7 replies & 701 views? Maybe Eric can light a fire.

Banned for life??? oh no.....that would never happen to me....I am perfectly behaved as you all know. Wonder what sort of trouble I will get into on my next cruise though? Cant wait!!

GrannyLorr December 2nd, 2010 08:40 PM

Just a little question....how long do we remain Juniors and Beginners?

Iamboatman December 2nd, 2010 08:46 PM

I became a Passenger at 25 posts...I think.

Paul Motter December 2nd, 2010 10:00 PM

Listen you all!!!

I am VERY glad you are here. And so you know our members seldom get into trouble and the only people wehave ever banned were because they picked fights with US about non-cruise topics.

As long as you respect the right of other people to have different opinions you will never be banned. That means you say "I disagree" but not "anyone who would say that is an ignoramus." See the difference?

I had one guy I banned (Captain America) who got mad at a Brit who had insulted Americans. Cappy came after ME and said "either you force him to apologize or I demand your resignation!!!"

I said "wait a minute, I don't even work for you."

Then he got all huffy about me being a communist or something. He started writing letters to management, it was just ridiculous. So we banned him.

We have even let certain people come back.

But I can say we have never banned anyone for being negative on a cruise line EXCEPT in one case where they just would not stop stealing every single thread in the NCL board and it turning it into a discussion on a topic where they had actually filed a lawsuit.

I have had staffmembers quit because I refused to ban people who were obnoxious but still following the rules. That's how strongly we feel about the right to express an opinion, good or bad, about a cruise line here.

Paul Motter December 2nd, 2010 10:03 PM

Yeah - we just found out the hard way that your signature will show up when you have 25 posts. Something to shoot for!

Iamboatman December 2nd, 2010 10:05 PM

Paul,

These are really good folks...and funny too. You want to know what these extremely well traveled and international people have to say. They laugh at the issues, rather than take them personally.

Now, Granny and Diebroke, do your thing!

diebroke December 2nd, 2010 10:24 PM

Eric,
I will continue to make inane posts to get my count up to 25.

Paul,
I admire your standards. I am distrustful of people who always agree with me.
I donít think I am obnoxious and the only communist I know is Eric.
I confess to having evil thoughts about a certain unnamed poster on another board but I am getting help dealing with my anger and hope it will not appear on this board.
On another note, if GrannyLorr posts her travel stories on this board, you will score a coup greater than the Miami Heat getting LeBron James. (Granny, I know American is not your native language so I want you to know that is a compliment.)

diebroke December 2nd, 2010 10:27 PM

ps To be considered "Junior" or "beginner" at my age is a compliment.
I may not be able to come up with 20 more inane posts so I will be pleased to live with the current titles.

I have absolutely no idea what you mean!! I am just a S.L.O.L. "sweet little old lady". I quite like the "Junior" title too.....so may not post any more in case I lose it!

lord of the seas December 4th, 2010 06:29 AM

Another "Rookie" just signed up
I'm on desertion from CC

Paul Motter December 4th, 2010 10:54 AM

Welcome "Lord"

We are honored and humbled to be in your presence ;-)

Iamboatman December 4th, 2010 11:08 AM

I would like to congratulate GrannyLorr for becoming a Passenger after her 10th post. Still a Junior, but not a Beginner.:D

Paul Motter December 4th, 2010 11:11 AM

You know what, I was rather looking forward to hearing a few stories about ol' whats-his-name over at CC. "DanTheMan" or whateveritis.

One thing we don't mind here is people who want to knock CC. We get our share of it already.

We have quite a few refugees here, including a good number of NOT-Royal Champions who were kicked off because they actually complained that the Royal Champion program over there wasn't proper. (BTW; a certain muckety over at CC actually contacted my bosses and tried to get me fired for what I said about that program).

They call themselves the Royal Commandos. You'll find them in our RCL board. There is one very long thread they started about 100 pages, but it is probably buried now.

GrannyLorr December 4th, 2010 01:21 PM

wow....I didnt even notice I was no longer a Beginner, until Boatman pointed it out!! Now have to aim for a signature.....have to think about that one.....

Paul, you want to hear news about our favourite CC Host?? What are you? a glutton for punishment?? Boy have I got a story for you.........

oops....nope cant do it.....have to behave.....for a little while anyway! ;)

Iamboatman December 4th, 2010 01:41 PM

Oh Boy. Be careful what you ask for!rofl
