how zany is the 3 day trip to Encenada

I've seen reviews in various other places all over the map, from great to awful. I expect, from what I've seen, that is is really "high energy" with a lot of kids zooming around.

Does it crank up...

Snorkeling - how difficult to just go do it w/your own gear

I'd be bringing my own gear, if possible. How easy is it to just take yourself to some snorkeling sites and have at it? Is booking with someone realistically the only way to get there?

Alaska Maritime Highway

If I'm traveling solo, I wonder if using the Alaska state Maritime Highway would make sense. I haven't written to them, but it doesn't really look like it would save money starting from Washington...

My kids have been to some kids club type things on land and do enjoy them a good bit. Kids in pools are into splashy fun - I do like the idea of adult-only pools and venues.

Sorry, I guess I was...

hostility toward children by passengers

In the unlikely event I ever have enough loose change lying about to afford to take my girls with me on a cruise some summer, I wouldn't be having them stay in a kid program. No knocking the program...

travel to Vancouver - direct or via Seattle?

I've seen folks write that they flew to Seattle, then used land transport to get to Vancouver. Is that definitely the way to go? What are the trade offs?
Are some cruise lines good at handling this,...

I spoke to HAL re: Zaandam. She is going into dry dock in January, so maybe the "worn out" complaints from 2012 will be moot. Thanks to everyone for their information.

Experience with Celebrity, HAL, Princess

Let me say at the start that I am sure all three lines are excellent and that I am not looking for a flame war. These three lines have been recommended to me and have trips that look pretty similar,...

Alaska in May - how are visibility and wildlife?

I'm considering an Inside Passage trip to Alaska next May. I understand that the weather is better in the summer, but I'm OK with cold and wind as long as the visibility is good. Dense fog or...

I'm looking at what HAL calls the 7 Day Interior Passage (in 2013 it is called 7 Day Roundtrip Vancouver) for next year. I would be traveling alone and other than a committment I cannot miss on May...

Snoozeman: That might be a good idea.

HAL ships / staff - what is your experience?

I've read a lot of reviews, but they are not 100% consistent, which is to be expected I guess. I am considering HAL for an Alaska cruise, attracted by a smaller size and some other things, but I have...
