I've never taken a trip on a HAL ship, but my husband and I will be taking the 12 days cruise to the Baltics next summer.

On other ships I've been on, and list of the next day's activities comes...

Re: kid unfriendly posts

I'm not hearing people say they want a totally childfree environment, and I certainly haven't said that !

What I hear people saying is that they don't feel as though they should have to be...

Re: Re: kid unfriendly posts

I suppose, with regard to the conversation, when I dine with people, I try to be inclusive, rather than exclusive. So, I would feel it necessary to try to include the child in the conversation,...

Re: kid unfriendly posts

Christine, so, basically, there was nothing the woman could do that would not have been percieved as rude. Okay, fair enough. We just have different opinions on this.

My husband and I talked...

Re: kid unfriendly posts

This is an interesting topic to me. Our family cruised for the first time last summer (with our teenage son and daughter). My husband and I will be going on a cruise alone in two weeks, and we have...

Re: no jeans

I'm just wondering what she is going to say when she comes on-board and people (like me!) will be there wearing jeans?

I have some lightweight, stretchy jeans that I plan to wear every day.

Good backpacks?

I'd like to buy a new backpack for my upcoming cruises. I'm thinking about something wheeled, for those occasions when I can do that, perhaps with a detachable daypack... but I'm open to all kinds...

Re: 3 year old twins not potty trained

My guess is that the pediatrician has had too many parents who find that their child is interested early, but then becomes uninterested again in a few weeks or months, reverting back. This isn't...

Re: 3 year old twins not potty trained

Cherith,

I'm afraid I don't know anything about the Princess line, but it looks like Luisa has offered a lot of knowledge.

As far as the bottle/potty-training stuff, let me just support you in...

Stingray City versus Stingray Sandbar???

Carnival seems to have four different "Stingray" tours in Grand Cayman. Two of them seem to go to "Stingray City", while two seem to go to "Stingray Sandbar". What is the difference?

Re: Re: Any one been to the Supper club?

Yes, you could go every night (for $25pp) but I'd get bored, as the menu doesn't change.

My husband and I went on the Spirit, and we both agree it was worth it. However, plan a little more...

Re: Roll Call: Carnival Legend

Hi Cassandra. Yes, our schools function on the team concept, and each grade is a "house".... "school within a school". I actually find it to be a nice set-up. We are also on block scheduling. ...

Yes, we are excited. We went on the Spirit last summer to Alaska with our kids, but this time it is just adults --- woohoo! My brother-in-law and his wife are coming too.

What excursions are you...

Re: Taking older kids out of school

PG, the standards for the language arts curriculum are more vague than most subject areas. They set forth guidelines ("students will draw inferences with reference to characterization") but teachers...

Re: Taking older kids out of school

Actually, the original poster's children's ages put them in high school and middle school, so no, I am not exempting non-elementary school children from the discussion.

As far as school consisting...

Do you think that teachers **like** the NCLB legislation? I don't know of any! Certainly, I don't. I don't think it takes into account different learning styles, varying strengths and weaknesses...

Re: Taking older kids out of school

I feel I must chime in here. I keep seeing references to how "educational" one and two week trips are, but the parents saying this are forgetting something --- it may be educational from a cultural...

Re: best family cruise line

My kids went to the Caribbean on RCC, and Alaska on Carnival. My daughter preferred RCC, because of the rock-climbing wall and the ice rink. My son preferred Carnival, because the "Teen Club" on...
