What a long, long wait this will be

Hello all!

Well, I've gone and done it - started planning another cruise. It has been FAR too long since last one - I looked at the calendar the other day and realized it was two years ago that...

I ended up using it to cover up part of the REALLY COLD AIR VENT on the Paradise, as there wasn't a way to turn the A/C off! That really saved the trip :D

You can bring wine and champagne along with you, and enjoy it each evening in the dining room (with a corkage fee).

As for liquor, it is the ship's policy that they do not allow liquor to be...

Irons are massive fire hazards - the irons on board are very rarely in use, so you shouldn't have to wait on them.

Just a pointer - if you do bring a hair dryer, don't forget to bring a power...

Re: st thomas

The trip across to St. John is definitely worth it. Trunk Bay was breathtaking, with good snokeling (with the famous snorkeling "trail", including markers so you'd know at what you were looking) and...

Re: shopping in St.Thomas,St.Martin, Nassau

Yes, in Nassau, you will find TONS of t-shirts at the Straw Market. Definitely walk through and see all the stands before deciding on the ones you'd like.

In St. Thomas (Charlotte Amalie), you'll...

Re: paradise

Hi superkid -

I sailed the Paradise last year, when she was still a non-smoking ship servicing the Carribean. At that time, the ship was immaculately clean, the service was top-notch, and the...

Re: Plan of bringing on a bottle??

Champagne is fine - completely legal in the ship's eyes. Vodka is another story. If you must insist, then you'll have to smuggle it on board somehow. Really, alcohol is pretty reasonable on the...

Re: Duct tape?

I know the staterooms are COLD and you can't turn them off, only down. Placing some duct tape over the freezing vent can make the room a more bearable temperature!

Also, if you break a heel, duct...

Re: wine

They probably won't ask, and if they do, it's no big deal: you're allowed to take on wine, champagne, and soft drinks. It's the liquor that is a no-no.

Re: travel Iron

Absolutely not! This is a massively huge fire hazard. There are launderettes available on the ships for usage, with irons located there, free of charge.

Re: hairdryers on Victory

No to refrigerators, unless you're in a Suite (at least on Fantasy Class ships!)

What we did to chill our wine and champagne was to bring a soft-sided collabsable cooler, which our steward filled...

Re: Re: Steward gifts, extra tips, the norm?

There were always people vacuuming the hallways (including our steward), but once we returned to our room to grab something and our steward was in our bathroom, himself, scrubbing the toilet. Just...

You can walk right off of the ship terminal/pier straight into downtown. Nassau is very pedestrian friendly and easily navigable! Enjoy your time there, it's beautiful!

Re: Re: Steward gifts, extra tips, the norm?

We left the amounts alone. The first night, we gave him and extra $10 up front because we were chilling 6 bottles of fine wine and champagne in the room, and we knew he'd have to keep our cooler...

I wouldn't get sea sick the next time! :o)

Seriously, there wasn't a single thing I would have done differently. I suppose I was one of the lucky ones!

Re: Re: Irons/Ironing Boards on Paradise?

The Paradise has at least two laundry rooms (that I used) - the one on the Empress deck is always less crowded than the one on the Upper deck.

Get your ironing done before formal night (everyone...

Re: Re: If Money were no object, how would you cruise?

If you're chartering the Paradise for a round-the-world, are you re-enforcing the non-smoking Policy while it's under your command? :o)

Can I come along?
