The ship has been in dry dock and is newly refurbished throughout. It was one of the most elegant ships I've ever been on.

We took the May 13 Montreal - Boston. We live in Boston, so we took the motor coach ($99 pp) from the pier in Boston. We parked right there at the Pier--no problems. We loved the newly re-done...

Paul, Thanks for getting back to me. Could you please tell me how much is the parking per day in the lot you mentioned, and how far is that from Pier 88? Do you have to call a cab from the lot, or...

Driving to Port of New York

What are the pros and cons of driving to the Port of New York for a cruise on day of sail. We live in the Boston area, and drive a car that gets great mileage. I understand the parking would be $180...

I use the patch. Tried Bonine on our first cruise and it had same effect as Dramamine--might as well have taken a sugar pill! No relief at all, and wow was I ever sick. I should have know better...

Boston to Burmuda Once the Majesty is Gone

We sailed Boston to Bermuda last May (second time) and loved it. The Captain mentioned that for 2006, the Majesty would still be doing the Boston to Bermuda run, but wasn't sure about 2007. He also...

I think the "bottom line" business decision that led to the mega ships may turn around and bite the CEOs in the wazzoo eventually. What happens if they can't fill these monstrousities? Friends of...

Magnolia Blossom, I have the NCL MC too, and we did use a $500 certificate on our last cruise. It was very easy and our TA took care of everything. We booked another cruise (2007) on board and paid...

Personally, I think $50 means you have to drink a tremendous amount of soda to make it worthwhile. I bought one on the Majesty back in May. Think it was $42 or something like that. On average, I'll...

Well, we had the opposite experience on the Majesty in May. DH tried to smuggle on a bottle of Grey Goose, which I didn't know about at the time. We got all the way up to the metal detectors and were...

Re: Flight arrivel is at 1:00, cutting it close??

Carry on luggage for a cruise? I don't think so. Brylac73, if it were me I'd bite the bullet and pay the penalty to book the day before. $200 is a lot less to loose than all the money you risk...

Re: Gimme a Tray Please!!!

The trays are necessary, and I have no idea why they stopped providing them on some lines. Not having them makes about as much sense as handing an ice cream cone to someone without a napkin. Seems...

Re: Deciding who to upgrade

I think that's a terrible idea! People are not necessarily "cheap" because they are careful with their money. Maybe they don't drink. Maybe they don't gamble. And not everyone who is careful with...

Re: On board theaters

On RCCL Jewel of the Sea last October on a repo cruise to the Caribbean out of Boston, we had a totally different impression of the popularity of movies on cruise ships. This theatre has stadium...

Re: More cruises out of Boston

I fully agree it would have to be a longer itinerary--not 7 days. More like a 10-14-day RT. A 3 season itinerary would work just fine. And you're right, Boston has a lot to offer to tourists. I...

Re: More cruises out of Boston

Weather in NY is a little milder than ours, so perhaps year-round isn't feasible in Boston. But the really nasty freezing weather doesn't set in until late December-January and it's gone by March. So...

Re: dress attire

Interesting, I was wondering the same thing. We're going on a Christmas cruise in the Caribbean that time of year. Since the velvet I have is also light weight, but long-sleeved and to the floor,...

Re: Deal with Drunks

Bouncers are a great idea, and yes, every cruise ship has a brig. They could politely escort them to their room. If they resist, escort them to the brig to sleep it off. I'd say when it disrupts...

Re: Self Serve Laundry on RCCL

I'd like to see it as an option too. Not only does it make sense for those who want to pack light, but those who don't want to wait a whole day to get their laundry/ironing back. I'm one of these...

Re: Round Trip Trans Atlantic Cruises

For some reason, I was under the impression that a crossing took 4 days, not six. OK then, let it be a round trip 18 day cruise, with 6 days at 3 ports. Not everyone can afford or has the time for...

Re: More cruises out of Boston

In answer to the above post, obviously you're not from this state. Your answer is logical, but it'll never happen here. Massachusetts has one of the most inefficient and mismanaged state governments...

Re: More cruises out of Boston

Gertrude, I'm sorry, maybe I didn't make myself clear. What I'm talking about isn't houses, but the TAXES and PORT CHARGES that Massachusetts levies against the cruise lines for the right to dock....
