Re: Re: drink cards, shore excursions

I gotta agree with Will on this one Coach. One, you don't know who your dealing with, who your giving you info to on a strage island. While on excursions, we found very few fluent english speaking...

Re: 2 way radios

We went out and purchased two way radios and only used them when our group of four(which included a 13 yr. old) separted off shore, while others stayed on board. Other than that, we found it easier...

Re: Re: Carnival Valor & 1st Time Cruisers

Bad - REALLY CROWDED! Everywhere you went seemed to be a rat race. Dipping holes (otherwise known to man as swimming pools) were small, there are only two on Valor and they are both salt water,...

Re: drink cards, shore excursions

Shore excursions-definatelly in advance. If you have your mind made up for a shore excursion, definately book in advance. If you change your mind, you can always make changes, we did. However,...

Re: seasickness

Just got off Valor and we had 8ft waves. Not alot of motion on the boat. I did however have a terrible time getting my equilibrium back to normal once off the boat. We did a 7 day, the week of the...

Re: Valor - safes?

Yes, just got off Valor. You should definately bring a library card if available. That's a great idea. You will want to lock all your valuable cards in the safe.

Re: When do I get docs? / Funpass

We got our's about a month out from the trip. Your funpass information will be included in that documentation. Not necessary to print it out unless it is not reflected in your carnival blue book.

Re: What does the Fun Pass do?

We just got back from our first cruise and we did not see any benefits to filling out the fun pass. It was never looked at or requested while on the boat. My guess is perhaps customs looks at it in...

Has anyone rode horses on the beach? If so, should you book through Carnival or go on your own?

Thanks

Re: looking for a cabin mate for Carnival Spirit Dec 27

Hi Tammie,
Did you ever find a cabin mate? If not, I would be interested. I'm 40 F and a non-smoker looking to go on a NY's cruise.

Carnival Triumph

Does anyone have an opinion on which deck is the best on the Triumph. In my experience I like to be within a floor up or down from the restaurants because the elevators tend to be slow.

Re: cell phones on cruises

My experience is that people using cell phones talk more loudly (they have to yell for the sound to get to the other side, after all :-) than do two people at a table together. Also, it seems the...

Re: Kids in the dining room!

I took my 1 year old daughter on a cruise in October. While I enjoyed meal times with her (and we spent all day together as well - no youth program for her age group), I would have been very happy...

Re: People who are glued to their video cameras

I equate the video taped vacations to those often tedious slide shows of years gone by. I think some people want to "bring the experience home" so they could share it with friends and family. Too...

Re: Bad Coffee

Syrup coffee is similar in idea to concentrated fruit juice. The "real stuff" is made then reduced to a very think, concentrated version. When mixed with water at a later time, it resembles the...

Re: Bad Coffee

Since I don't drink alcohol nor do I gamble, I was looking forward to indulging my one "vice" on my Oct. 2002 Zaandam cruise to Alaska. I'd seen reviews that mentioned the onboard coffee bar and was...

Old cruise ships as homeless shelters

I heard a brief news "blip" on NPR this morning that NYC is considering using some "retired" cruise ships as shelter for the homeless. They've had an increase in homeless rates and are running out...

OK, I'm going to show my lack of epicurean sophistication and ask:

"What's Mexican vanilla and how is it different from basic (US) vanilla extract?"

... and why does this forum have such an odd...
